I can’t recommend this hotel. From arriving I found the hotel staff to be cold and unwelcoming. Upon arriving we weren’t told anything about the hotel or the amenities. We asked what is there around the hotel worth seeing and was told there isn’t much around here ! We found the small town of Riposte ourselves and it was nice with some nice bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is average, nice pool area and breakfast is ok (staff at both are very nice). It’s just not a great experience overall and is just not worth what they charge. The restaurant is another story. Food is excellent so kudos to the chef but the front of house and service is terrible. As a Michelin starred restaurant we were expecting more , it was the least favourite Michelin restaurant experience of the entire trip. There are other options in the area and I would suggest looking elsewhere before booking this hotel.

You won’t go hungry! I physically couldn’t eat anymore when I was here. It’s the biggest tasting menu I have ever had- the portions are huge! The food is fantastic! It’s the first time I have stayed anywhere where the staff from the cleaning staff to the waiting staff apart from one receptionist were exceptional! Their attention to detail was great. However, the guests are a whole other level of entitled and rude. It’s the first time I have encountered this but they spoilt it for us. They need to do a sign that tells drivers where to drop people off as we got beeped at by a guest cyclist when we stopped - karma got her as she fell off her bicycle after doing that. Then as I was leaving to get into our car a guest stopped and a spilt bush got me as I couldn’t pass between the car and bush. The spa was closed which was disappointing and some of the fixtures and fittings feel unfinished but apart from that it was very nice. They do a turn down service and check you have everything you need . There were still mosquitoes and we got bitten quite a bit by those and ants by the pool. The drive into the hotel is down a narrow road and the drive out is a steep drop down a two way badly maintained road that is wide enough for one car.

Unfortunately, the stay did not meet our expectations at all. There was neither a common area nor a lounge or other seating options outside the room. In addition, the spa area was closed due to renovation work. We were only informed about this after booking – hidden in the last sentence of an email. Only upon our arrival did we realize that the hotel offers no possibility to spend time outside the room in bad weather. Under these circumstances, we decided not to start our stay and to leave again. Despite the significant restrictions, we only received a small part of the amount already paid back. An extremely disappointing way of treating guests and, from our perspective, a miserable approach.
