Grand Ortigia

Definitely not a 5star hotel. I felt like on a trap, expecting what the photos show, but when you get there, you find out that everything is really old, dated, barely a 3 star establishment. They provide cheap coffee bags, no amenities in the room. Even in the breakfast, the coffee tasted like it was re-warmed a dozen times. The beach advertised is FAKE, it is 14km far from the hotel, and it has a 20 euro cost per person to get their boat to the location. Great location and a parking place is available just across the street.

The hotel is in a great location, a short distance from the historic center and the Aretusa fountain. The terrace on the top floor offers a magnificent view of the harbor. The rooms are classic in style, not very large but comfortable. Overall, a good experience.

The hotel was a beautiful hotel, old world charm, and very conveniently located- steps from the marina and steps to many great restaurants and shops in the town of Ortiga/Siracusa. The restaurant that served a full breakfast included was also lovely and the food very good. The main negatives of this hotel was that it is very hot this time of year and the air conditioning in the room is sub par. I had to sleep with a cold compress on my head. Also, the Concierge was friendly but did not give good advice as to restaurants and booked us a cheesy private boat excursion. The boat was called "The Love Boat" and the tour guide didn't speak any English at all!! Very disappointing. If you stay there make sure you research everything very well yourself for restaurants and activities and be prepared for a hot room in June/July/August.
