Hotel 1823

Advertised as a refurbished farmhouse gives the impression that its in the country but in fact its in rather an untidy residential area on the outskirts of Syracuse. No chance of a stroll in the country here! The "10 minute drive" to the city centre depends very much on traffic - we didnt manage it that quickly in our 3 day stay. The location and the considerable distance from anywhere to eat and drink are the only negatives though. Good sized comfortable rooms in a delightfully refurbished old Sicilian building, with lovely staff. Spotlessly clean throughout. The breakfast is very basic continental with no frills and may not suit those who like a substantial start to the day. Because of the thickness of the walls, wifi is only available in the reception area, but is a good speed. The swimming pool is a real bonus. If you stay here, ask for directions to La Frateria, a very classy, but surprisingly reasonably priced, pizza restaurant.

This wonderful hotel is 10 minutes away from the center if you have a car. People who work there are polite and smiley. You can park your hotel in the property so no problem about safety.It is quiet and you really enjoy it.The room was absolutely clean and extremely tasteful.In the barhroom there were 2 towels for each one and bathroom amenities.The one and only negative was the shower.The water wasn't flowing too good.The breakfast was delicious,apart from the usual(juice,butter,jam,milk,cheese,ham,yogurt) there were also croissants with creme and chocolate filling,so fresh and another day there was a tart you thought so fresh you just came from the kitchen! They asked each one about the coffee and they prepared it the same minute! And they have a cute cat!

This hotel is on the outskirts of Syracuse and offers secure parking, one of the reasons for choosing it. Having said that the hotel is only at the most 10 mins drive from the Greek Theatre and about 15 mins from Ortigia. As long as you have a GPS both are easy to find. The rooms were well decorated and very clean. The breakfast ok with good coffee . The swimming pool was clean and had nice seating areas. One down side is that there are no restaurants in close proximity.
