I DO NOT recommend this establishment.
We reserved the room one week in advance. We paid 10 Euro more for the "Deluxe". Upon arrival, we discovered that the pictures posted on their website for the deluxe were not of the deluxe but the apartment on the top floor. Not only did we not get the deluxe room, they gave us the standard room (tiny, just a bed and a bathroom and a sad window overlooking a wall). Upon protesting with the hotel staff, we were provided the deluxe room which had a balcony but was lacking the following:
1. any sort of electronic device (phone, tv)
2. remote control for the air conditioning unit
3. shower head holder (try holding a shower head while showering, not fun)
4. shower curtain (water goes everywhere)
5. soap
6. TOILET PAPER!
The room had been painted recently but there almost all the junction boxes were missing the covers (holes everywhere)
We left 20 minutes after arriving and all the owner could say was "we didn't have time to prepare the room" and "usually everyone likes it here".
Excuses do not compensate for lazy entitlement oriented business owners who do you the favor of screwing up your vacation. 0/5 stars.

one of the loveliest and charming hotels we had in Sicily, just by the rocky seaside, It has huge terrace with armchairs, sunbeds and greatest sea view ever..the terrace was just for us :) good service, probably family-run.
15-20 mins walk to Ortigia.

Most people who visit Syracuse (or Siracusa as it's known to Italians) stay in the Ortygia; my wife and I, however, chose a hotel located outside of Siracusa's old town and were delighted with our find. The Hotel Riviera offers tidy, quiet rooms with seaside views; we fell asleep each night to the sound of breakers washing over the rocky shore outside our window. One of our hosts, Umberto, spoke excellent English and offered very helpful recommendations on local attractions, along with excellent directions, while his mother, Angela (it's a family-run place) was always friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts, included in the price of the room, were the best of our trip, including as they did some eggs cooked in Sicilian fashion (hard-boiled and served with oregano, olive oil, and fresh cherry tomatoes).
A couple of things to be aware of: first, the hotel has no elevator and all the rooms are up at least one flight of stairs; second, the higher you go, the weaker the wi-fi signal. So you want to have Internet access in your room and/or have trouble climbing stairs, ask for a room on a lower floor.
