Villa Belvedere

We stayed for 5 nights at the Hotel Villa Belvedere on a bed and breakfast basis. From the second we arrived, we couldn’t have felt more welcome. Joseph greeted us with a welcome Prosecco/beer, and a short talk on some of the key sights, tour options and restaurant recommendations. The villa was decorated in a traditional Sicilian style which we loved. Our room was ready before 3.00pm, and we were allocated no. 47 which was one level up from reception at the top of the stairs. it was huge, with a small balcony with just enough space for two chairs. We overlooked the pool and the bay of Gardinia Naxos…it was stunning. The room had everything we needed plus more…lots of storage space, a fridge, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, and a very well stocked bathroom with lots of counter space for our products. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace (one floor down from reception) was the best way to start the day. Options ranged from everything you would expect in a continental breakfast, along with Sicilian specialities, and bacon/sausages. Cereals, fruits, pastries and juices were plentiful, and Prosecco was available to make a Buck’s Fizz if needed! You could order à la carte it’s such as eggs/omelettes, crepes and granitas - highly recommend the peach flavour with a brioche bun. The breakfast staff were incredible - constantly checking if we wanted anything else, bringing us more cappuccinos, clearing promptly - all with a smile on their faces. The pool terrace was stunning. Towels are provided free of charge and we always managed to find a sun lounger no matter the time of day. The pool was a lovely temperature and a welcome relief from the heat of the day. There is a shower and toilet on the terrace. There is a snack bar / restaurant which is open until about 6pm (food between 12-4) which serves a huge range of drinks and a good range of lunch options. We enjoyed the bruschetta, tomato salad and melon and ham in particular…everything we had was delicious and the portion sizes were decent for a lunch ‘snack’. We also enjoyed Messina Beer, mojitos, proseccos and Aperol Spritz’ round the pool. It was such a peaceful and stunning place to be, and I think we spent time there every day apart from one. Location wise, it was PERFECT. The hotel is right next door to the Villa Comunale di Taormina, the public gardens, so we would stroll through the beautiful grounds to Corso Umberto each night, rather than walking along the road. It was about 7 mins to Corso Umberto, and 10 minute walk to Teatro Antico di Taormina. We didn’t hear any road noise from outside the hotel. It genuinely was so peaceful and within reach of the main sites of Taormina. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, and would return without hesitation. Its main asset is its incredible staff, who could not be more accommodating and willing to help, be it from ordering us taxis, bringing an iron to our room, to remembering our morning drink. They were all wonderful and we are missing them, the hotel and Taormina already x

This place is incredible with its perfect location, cosy and clean rooms and a very friendly atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with a great introduction of the hotel. It felt very friendly and caring. The service at breakfast was always excellent and food very itialian and delicate. We stayed at one of the rock suites ans it worked very well. Big room and clean. Housekeeping had no flaw. This hotel is real value for money in Taormina. Only small improvement area would be to have more service at the pool. The guys working there could learn from the ladies at breakfast:) We will be back.

The quality of customer service is ok, but the rooms and swimming pool area look completely outdated. Definitively renovation is needed. Breakfast area was nice, and buffet well prepared and equipped, but the food à la carte wasn’t good at all. We had omlet and posted eggs, but both were very average. Positive point is the location and view from the hotel.
