Hotel Luna Mondschein

This is a very nice 4-star boutique hotel a short 10-15 minute walk from the center of Ortisei and the various ski/hiking lifts. The hotel is immaculate and the facilities are first-rate. There is a nice sauna and pool. The restaurant had a good breakfast and reasonably-priced four-course dinner the one night we were too tired to go out. Our double room was good-sized, especially by European standards, and had wonderful views of the mountains and the town. The only negative was that the staff was not terribly warm or (in some cases) accommodating. They seemed bound by some silly rules. For example, my wife needed ice for her knee and they at first gave her a hard time about it and wanted to charge her for a small bag. Also, we wanted to take a cup of morning coffee to our room and bring it back, but this was against the rules. With the exception of Alice, who was wonderful, the staff was not very personable. But because the hotel itself was so nice and conveniently located, I would recommend it.

The hotel is well located about 750 m from the centre and in a quiet area of the town with easy access to attractions and transport. Many thanks to David, Karin, Barbara and the extended team for making our stay so welcoming, our experience at Hotel Luna Mondshein will be remembered for a long time. Our room located on the third floor facing the main road was superb, with minimal traffic noise, the room with a balcony was comfortable and clean with plenty of wardrobe space and a large bathroom. Having booked through Booking.com, in hindsight there may have been better value booked directly with the hotel where half board was an option. The breakfast buffet was a superb start to the day in Ortisei, a huge choice of everything you would expect. The spa and pools were a welcome relaxation from the days trekking and I would highly recommend the dinner in the restaurant, a full Italian style feast from a set course menus with plenty of choice for all palates. Be sure to book at reception in the morning as capacity can be limited. I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Ortisei.

Absolutely beautiful property. Grounds and facilities were amazing. Half board eas well worth it. Food was divine and different each night. Restaurant staff were wonderful. Breakfast was exceptional. Views from my 2 balconies in my room were incredible. Bathroom size and amenities were perfect. Pool and spa and sauna all available. Cannot praise enough. Wish I had stayed longer. 11/10.
