Hotel Milano

Having been to several places around this stunning lake. I thought I knew it all. How wrong could I be! Moderna barely heard of it maybe too small? Absolutely not!!! Mixed reviews, as always I had booked very last minute so was not able to secure a balcony would this ruin my holiday/ Absolutely not!!! We arrived late were welcomed with a meal and retired to a lovely spotlessly clean practical and feel good factor room 215 at the back so mercifully very peaceful and quiet. The highlight was the wonderful LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION Beautiful area everything essential a few yards away. Several restaurants a great supermarket an amazing fine dining Bistro at the front adjoining the hotel which we ate in several times Scallops cooked exquisitely. And service just perfect the chef and staff were a joy to meet could not have been better 2 young brothers 1 worked there the other in hotel dining room. The size of this hotel about 40 rooms was perfect almost had a cosy feel and the guests all chatted and communicated in a friendly fashion. We were very impressed with the actual building which was very pretty and in excellent condition in and out no mean feat with the outside kept immaculate old and in tremendous heat. Our cleaner was a gem excellent worker but time for a little chat. anyone who hadn't read the reviews would struggle a little with electric plugs not plentiful. THE REVIEWS ARE THERE FOR A REASON Read them take adaptors a travel kettle and you would be sorted. This is not England that's why we go They. have different methods one I feel we Brits struggle with is running up a tab worrying it will be big no drinks menu offered but there are menus and prices in books in bar you can refer to. The tab system is open to abuse and relies on efficiency and honesty. Which in my case arriving at 10 at night our bill for 2 beers for that date was massive! I can only imagine some mean individuals drinking excessively then giving our room no for the bill Fortunately myself and my husband at the second attempt and a bit of basic detective work eventually managed to NOT pay for some unprincipled persons drinks.not how we had planned to spend our last day.I had read review where this had happened before. However nothing could spoil our amazing holiday in this superb little resort and hotel and I would recommend a visit and would love to return here

The coach pulled up for the most stunning location A pretty building over looking the lake Very pretty gardens with swimming pool A few families with very loud children does not make for a relaxing atmosphere at all times The rooms Ours overlooked the lake with a balcony Small with no storage next to the bed so books phones and stuff made it a bit cluttered Cleaned daily to perfection Food Breakfast is alright But no fresh fruit which was very disappointing Dinner After day 2 we decided we would not even bother If you enjoy good food, one good reason to go to Italy, don’t expect it from this dining room Very poor indeed Other than that Our stay was enchanting

Beautiful charming characterful hotel in a perfect location overlooking the lake. Long transfer (2 and half hours) but well worth it. Absolutely amazing double aspect views from 'superior room with balcony with lake view'. Clean and friendly staff, great pool, super close walking distance to ferry, little bus 'train' ride to historic and picturesque papermill valley, shops, restaurants, gelato, bars, but also positioned slightly off the main busiest area. Used the gated car park overnight for hire car/ bikes which was very convenient with plenty of space (ask the manager for this) . Food was good, self serve all you can eat buffet, but very limited for vegetarians. Lots to choose from but not always pleasing to everyone. Would have been good to have some plain pasta available with a couple of different sauce options (eg bolognese, tomato, carbonara), rather than so many specific meat/fish dishes, which would cater for veggie, kids etc. Breakfast was great, bean to cup coffee machine /teas/ water/juice/milk available at breakfast but no other time. We were on a tight budget so rather than pay hotel drinks prices we didn't order any hotel drinks, went to supermarkets 5-10 minute walk away (but only open til 7pm) stocked up the little fridge, and enjoyed on our balcony soaking up stunning views. Would be nice to have tea/coffee/kettle in rooms and access to chilled water dispenser, otherwise couldn't fault. Recommend taking a travel kettle and plug extension lead. Despite this Hotel Milano is an absolute gem of a hotel, we loved it, stayed for 7 nights but packed so much in we really needed another few days to relax around the pool afterwards! Hope to return in the future.
