Hotel Paggeria Medicea

Excellent hotel with attentive service from its staff. I recommend it.

The little village of Artimino is a wonderful place to experience the beauty and history of Tuscany: The hotel and the village itself offer plenty of things to do. Look out for guided tours of the Villa Medici, or book one of the activities at the nearby farm, Il Grumolo. We also really enjoyed the local gelateria, where you can get delicious gelato for just €2.50 — and it stays open until 11:30 pm! The spa is lovely as well, but in summer, the swimming pool near the Villa Medici is definitely the better option. That said, as always, there are a few things worth knowing and preparing for: Taxi transfers in this region can be very expensive, and the distance doesn’t seem to make much difference to the price. It may be cheaper to rent a car, which is what we did and which worked out very well for us. However, be aware of the crazy Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) restrictions in and around Florence. Also, make sure the hotel provides insect repellents or diffusers in your room, and put on some insect spray before heading out for dinner, since you will usually eat outdoors. In July heading for dinner around 8 war perfect. Earlier is too hot. The air conditioning in our room worked very well, which made staying in the old village, with its beautiful stone buildings, very comfortable even during the hot summer. Overall, Artimino is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, and a great base for enjoying the Tuscan countryside, history, food (Bistecca alla Fiorentina!), and atmosphere.

The Tenuta di Artimino is a splendid place, with a unique atmosphere that made our stay truly special. The staff was always friendly and kind. Our apartment was spacious, clean, cool, and equipped with all the comforts, with a very comfortable bed. We also appreciated the welcome kit for our big dog, a thoughtful touch that is truly appreciated. The breakfast room is a bit far from the apartment area and the main building, but, although a shuttle service is available (which we did not use), the walk is very pleasant thanks to the wonderful landscape. The pool is in a fantastic location and the experience in the spa area was also excellent. I would not have wanted to leave the estate and would have gladly stayed a few more days.
