We had a very pleasant stay at Terre di Casole. The breakfast was great, the room has been kept clean everyday and the staff was very friendly, especially mrs. Cristina which was very kind and thoughtful with us every day. We will definitely come back when we will have the chance!

Very relaxing hotel, we had a very fine room on level -2 with a private patio which allowed you to walk out to the swimming pool & grounds. A kettle/breakfast tea & coffee was very welcome & fresh milk was availible on request - just the thing after a day's walking. This is a very quiet hotel considering the busy road it was on - the terre I imagine. The dining room used for breakfast & diner had wonderful views of the Tucany hills & played "Radio3" at breakfast - a great way to start the day. The standard of food was excellent, though the evening meals had seriously large portions - watch out 4 courses here is a large meal. There was a supermarket next door & the hill town was a 10-15 minute walk uphill. In the old town the Osteria del Caffe Casolani does a very nice lunch. Would stay again for sure.

We had a very relaxing week at this hotel. The staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful. Always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. We were in a Classic room which was a minor disappointment as we didn't realise it wouldn't have a balcony or terrace as I'd never seen photos of this part of the hotel BUT it was a lovely room with views over the vegetable garden and hills in the distance. Perfectly adequate size, neutral decor and very clean. There was only 1 drawer but we still managed with hanging things up (asked for extra hangers which were obtained immediately) and using the shelf in the wardrobe. There was also a little fridge which is always useful. And a safe. The bed was a king size with a memory foam mattress (which I've now realise I would not like on my own bed as I didn't find it very comfortable but this is a personal thing). I also found the pillows too soft but once again, a personal thing. The TV didn't seem to work but having ascertained that there were no English channels, we weren't at all bothered. The bathroom was very spacious and once again, very clean apart from the grout around the bottom of the shower. Toiletries - shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, foot gel and soap were provided, and replenished. Also a pack containing a shower cap, cotton buds, little emery board and a tiny hair bobble. Breakfast was delicious. Continental but with lots of choice. There was scrambled egg and bacon but I didn't have that. There was also a table with Gluten free cereal and cake items. You did your own tea and Americano coffee or ask for a different sort of coffee such as Cappucino, from the waitress. The gardens of the hotel were lovely. Lush and green and with amazing views. The pool was warm (maybe slightly too warm which I never thought I'd say) and had sunbeds, parasols and deck chairs. There was a hot tub and sauna and a little bar, which unfortunately was closed. The hotel is Dog friendly which we loved and the Manageress brings her own gorgeous border collie in to work with her. None of the dogs staying there were badly behaved or a nuisance but if you don't like dogs, the fact that they're allowed to stay might put some people off. The hotel is about a 10 minute uphill walk from the old town. There's a supermarket much closer and a Petrol station too. We found eating out a bit of a challenge. Having looked on here before booking we were under the impression that there were lots of restaurants in the vicinity. We only found 2 restaurants in town - a pizzeria, and a restaurant (something Casolina) where you pay 27 euros for a 4 course meal which is decided for you. The menu changes each night. The food was very tasty. Booking is highly recommended. We also walked to La Columbiao outside the old town, which was closed, a bar that did pizzas near the hotel which was closed on the night that we went (Thursday). We asked at reception for a recommendation in the old town of Colle de Val Elsa, a name was given to us which was showing as being open but when we got there it was closed. Maybe it's because of the time of year. But it was all rather frustrating! The hotel is very well situated for going out and about. We flew in to Pisa which was about 1.5 hours away. Volterra - 30 minutes. San Gimingnano - 30 minutes. Siena - 30 minutes. Florence about an hour ish. Monteriggioni - 15 minutes. As for the mosquitos that a couple of reviewers have mentioned............the hotel can't be marked down for that! There's lots of greenery so there'll be mosquitos. We applied mosquito repellent and used a plug in in our room. All in all we had a wonderful week.
