Hotel 'Borgo il Poeta', Santa Maria a Monte - travel group with 38 people - 4 overnight stays (06/10 - 06/14/2026)
This hotel - supposedly an Italian 4-star hotel - was an absolute flop and NOT acceptable!
From my perspective, the hotel is totally overwhelmed with travel groups!
- No chairs in the room
- Only a slightly damaged desk
- No chairs and no table on the room balcony
- No opportunity to sit in the room or on the balcony
- In the closet, there were only 3 hangers - absolutely insufficient for the clothing taken on the trip
- Bathroom very small (especially the shower with a shower curtain - the curtain stuck to the body while showering)
We have already after the 1st. Breakfast, i.e., on June 11, 2026, we requested at the reception that chairs and additional hangers be brought to our room – this was noted and recorded by the staff.
Hotel's response: NONE - it was simply ignored.
– we then brought at least one chair from the dining room to the room ourselves.
*Only positive aspect: The room/bathroom were clean.
- Breakfast/food at the hotel:

At breakfast, there were no cups, only paper cups (on the first morning) -> an absolute NO GO!!! Furthermore, on the first morning, neither cold cuts nor cheese and "thawed baguette" were offered.
The bus driver immediately complained about this, and from the next day on, at least cups, cold cuts, and cheese (albeit very little and insufficient) were offered at the breakfast buffet. Coffee had to be fetched from the machine, which hardly worked most of the time, leading to waiting times of 15 minutes, i.e., standing in line to get coffee, and the cups were usually only half full.
This was also complained about by the bus driver, and a suggestion was made to the hotel staff that two pots of coffee should be placed on each table (table with 10 people) in the morning to avoid waiting times at the machine.
NONE, i.e., it remained a torture to get coffee for the rest of the days.
Dinner:
Hotel's response: Salad buffet and drinks
=============================== For the travel group, it was outrageous, as it was far too little; the offered salad was enough for a maximum of 10 people, and we had to ask the staff several times to refill the salad bowl, which took a while for someone to respond.
Order 1. The drink was prompt and okay – but for a reorder, the staff only came after several requests – somehow we were left "hanging."
The food itself was also not exactly the "best of the best" -> low-quality fare.
Conclusion: I will certainly not visit this hotel again!!!
