La Lodola

We arrived by motorcycle, and Manuela welcomed us. She made us feel right at home immediately. The room was wonderful, with an independent entrance to the garden, and a fireplace. The well-kept furnishings, the pool immersed in the Val di Chiana countryside, the atmosphere and the peace, what can I say.. a dream. Not to mention the delicious breakfast with cakes and jams made at home by Mario, the host, whom we will not forget for his kindness. We will definitely be back. This villa absolutely deserves a stay.

We spent a dream weekend at Villa La Lodola, a magical place immersed in the quiet and authentic beauty of the Tuscan countryside, a stone's throw from the Crete Senesi. A charming structure, with attention to every detail, that looks like something out of a postcard. Our room was beautiful, spacious, tastefully decorated and overlooking a breathtaking view, typically Tuscan: soft hills, cypresses and golden light. Every awakening was a little enchantment. But what makes this place truly unique is Manuela: a rare, special person, able to welcome with authentic, original and profound hospitality. It makes you feel at home, but in a house that smells of history, beauty and care. And of course, impossible not to mention Pajamas...the sweet chocolate-colored labrador? He is the true mascot of Villa La Lodola: he stole our hearts. In the morning for breakfast and in the evening for dinner he awaited us with tender eyes and infinite patience, hoping for a piece of bread... and how to resist him? It was an incredible experience, one that regenerates your soul. Everyone should treat themselves to at least a weekend here, to find peace, beauty and human warmth. We will be back, no doubt. And we can’t wait!!!

We have stayed in a few places further North in Tuscany but wanted to be closer to Val D’Orcia this time whilst still being able to reach the Chianti route fairly easily. Villa La Lodola proved to be a great choice of location for this. The house has tonnes of character, our room was charming and Mario and Manuela could not have been more hospitable and helpful. Away from the crowds of the larger towns, there are some charming smaller towns close by - Cortona was a highlight. Great value for money, nice breakfast and warm, welcoming, lovely hosts. Perfect!
