Portole

we walked the first 2 legs of sentiero 50, from Passignano to Castiglion Fiorentino. This was the perfect place to stop over. The owner (or manager) is very friendly. The hotel is a bit disorganized. The room was clean and decent size. TV and wifi OK; (TV did not work at first but was rapidly fixed). The meal in the restaurant was good quality and not expensive. Breakfast was scarce.

the courtyard restaurant at the back has a wondeful view and manages to be cool even on the hottest day.I imagine hotel guests would get priority so probably best to book.The food is proper traditional Tuscan food which has gone from so many places,and comes with good table wine at a very reasonable price. We always enjoy it here

Great farm to table lunch for our wine group .... More food than we could possibly eat paired with 2016 Cortona Sangiovese and Achelo 2016 Cortona Rosso.... Highlights were the arincini and Chingale balls... Vin Santo with biscotti were the best finish. Thanks to this family for welcoming our large group ... Will tell my friends about this great out of the way spot
