Arriving at the scheduled time for check-in, the room was occupied by a couple, who were eating in my room. Having heard from the host, he "played dumb" and guaranteed me that within a short time the room would be cleared and made available to me. By 6:30 PM and having to go to an important work appointment, I left my luggage in another room and could not even use the restroom. Upon my return after dinner, I found the room in order and with everything in its place, apparently. the television was unusable as the remote control lacked batteries and the air conditioner would not turn on. Terrible service and terrible experience. a real shame because the property is functional and strategically well located.

I booked days in advance, I requested to be able to check in at night, they ignored my request until the day of arrival. I contacted them by phone, they denied me the possibility of checking in at night, so I told them that I would arrive within the established schedule; I moved our entire itinerary to get to the place on time (this meant loss of money for me). When I arrived in Florence my surprise was that they had canceled me, according to the worker who spoke to me it was because my card was not valid; which is a lie (on the same trip I stayed in several places without problems with my card). As it was night they left me and my pregnant wife with no place to sleep. Therefore it was A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, in this place there is no cordial attention to the guests, nor do they solve the problems that any passenger could have. A SHAME.

Host canceled my confirmed booking stating invalid credit card details provided (untrue) to take a holding deposit. I validated my card twice during a 24 hour period to then wake 2 weeks out from our planned stay to a cancelled booking. I have been using the same card for all accomodation over the last four weeks of my Europe trip and in fact, had to use it today to book replacement accomodation. When I questioned what had happened with the host (via the WhatsApp number he had previously provided me as I couldn’t get a response to the formal channels of booking.com) I was advised that he was unable to confirm our booking as it was canceled. His channel manager tried unsuccessfully to secure a holding deposit. As this is the first experience I have had like this, I took to the web to have a look at what others had to say on Google about this accomodation and it appears that this has been ongoing behaviour for many years. I wonder if it’s to cancel confirmed bookings at the last minute in order to secure higher rates due to low availability only weeks/ days out from confirmed stay? I then went back and reviewed some of the poorer reviews on booking.com for this accomodation (as it currently rates 8.8 and only if you have stayed there can you provide a review through booking.com) to discover that things aren’t as great as they seem. If the price and reviews for a stay so close to Florence central seem to good to be true, then they probably are. Do not recommend booking this accomodation at all unless you are comfortable running the risk of being left without accomodation at the last minute and needing to book somewhere more expensive due to low availability. A poor and completely unexpected experience during our time in Italy (our third time). I know covid has hit the country and economy hard but this type of behaviour seems to have been occurring well before covid for this host. Shameful.
