Got a free upgrade to suite from double room but feel I need to be honest. Walking from train station to b&b left me a bit apprehensive of the area I was staying in. Honestly I'm no snob but felt I'd made a mistake booking it as I walked along what seemed the back streets of Florence among the graffiti, bags of rubbish and people outside the various convenience shops in the area . The building is a door and window (with bars) on a terraced street. We never felt unsafe walking around even at night though. On checking into the b&b we were met by Lorenzo who couldn't do enough for us and showed us the areas to eat & visit. As we'd been upgraded FOC to the suite we were taking upstairs which the door is located directly in the office area of the b&b but there's hardly ever anyone around so doesn't bother you. The building is very quiet, especially at night. The bed in the suite is not very comfy for anyone with a glass back like myself so choose wisely. Room is big enough when using as a base for exploring the city , but don't expect comfort. Breakfast which we only had 1 morning was pretty basic consisting of boxed cereals, meat & cheese, toast or bread, biscuits & coffee & juice but enough to get the day started. Aircon was good but they would turn it off during the day if you weren't around when they made up your room. Walking into city centre was only around 15-20 mins so ideal distance. As I say it's an ideal base but this stay made us realise we didn't need to spend much more to be more comfortable in a hotel.

Nice and close within walking distance of the major attractions. Comfortable accommodation, with a Trattoria right next door. Stayed 3 nights and thanks to Lorenzo and Sara for being great hosts. Serves a hefty continental breakfast, and we were lucky with our downstairs suite to have a small outdoor area to sit at.

Perfectly located within walking distance of the main attractions, Santa Maria cathedral del Fiore, duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio and all the other beautiful buildings and museums. The building itself is an old former prison and its heritage is reflected throughout. Our bedroom even had preserved graffiti with the date 1737. It is very modern, comfortable and Lorenzo is helpful and very welcoming. Lovely breakfast with fruit, Coisants cheese, ham etc. it was very hot during our stay, sometimes 40 degrees but our room was air conditioned and had a balcony. Some steps up and not easy with suitcases but a relatively small matter. Would definitely stay here again. Florence is very popular with tourists and lots of Americans were there during our visit. We also took a day trip to Pisa while there.
