Don’t be duped by glossy promo photos or steep rates. This property puts on a grand facade of elegance, but the reality is a massive letdown. For the price they charge, the value simply isn't there. Set inside an historic building in central Florence, the location has charm on paper, but the reality falls short. While the rooms are clean, they’re packed with a tacky mishmash of antique furniture that feels outdated rather than refined. Worse, the walls offer zero soundproofing. You’ll hear every footsteps, echoing voice, and door slam from the hallway, wrecking any chance of a good night’s rest. Add in the cheap touch of not even supplying free bottled water, and the high rate feels almost insulting. Morning dining is equally disappointing. "Breakfast" amounts to a few tables jammed into a corner of the lobby, featuring little more than low-grade, sugar-laden pastries and virtually no savory choices. Service does nothing to save the experience. The front desk team oscillates between detached coldness and outright rudeness, treating simple inquiries like a burden. Given how many phenomenal hotels operate in Florence, spending your money here makes no sense. You can easily find a far higher standard of comfort, taste, and hospitality for the exact same budget. Give this one a pass.

The hotel scores with an excellent location: The train station and sights are within walking distance, the historic ceiling paintings are beautiful, and our room was clean. We had booked through Expedia, where “pets welcome” was stated. We had overlooked the fact that, according to the policies, only one dog up to 10 kg is allowed – our mistake. The hotel kindly made an exception for our two small dogs, for which we were grateful. We paid an additional 20 € per day. It was all the more disconcerting that all decorative pillows were removed during our stay on the grounds that the dogs might shed on them. Because of this, we unfortunately felt a bit like second-class guests. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, and the water did not get properly cold. The “minibar” consisted merely of non-refrigerated water and red wine that cost extra – there was no refrigerator. Positive: My medication was easily stored in the hotel refrigerator. The breakfast was very minimalist. The advertised 24-hour reception is not personally staffed at night, but only reachable by phone or digitally. For parking, 35 € per day was ultimately charged instead of the 26 € read multiple times beforehand. The garage was full, so our car was driven to another garage. Unusual, but it ultimately worked without any problems. Conclusion: great location and nice ambiance, but a few points that did not fit the total price for us. We would not book again.
