Hotel Pensione Ottaviani

The Ottaviani is a busy, low cost pensione with cheerful and helpful staff. It is basic and basically good. I have brilliant memories with the Ottaviani as the happy and reliable backdrop where you go home at night for a warm and quiet sleep in a clean bed and with decent shower and toilet amenities. You can scarcely be more central - yet it's slightly hidden in a quiet corner. They are now closed for refurbishment. I hope they remain simple and honest and basic - and when they open they hopefully will not offer a bland, over-stylised Euro-pop atmosphere. Ottaviani is an institution that could aim for a tidy up but please keep the character and friendliness.

The reviews below that state how horrible this place is are correct. Writing a review to warn everyone what a scam this place is. I made a reservation a month prior to my desired date, then had to cancel. I attempted to contact the staff two times by email and again by contact form on their website when nobody would respond to my request to cancel. I canceled weeks before the required three day cancellation deadline. They still charged my credit card; of course I disputed the charges. Even though I provided proof that I attempted to contact the hotel three times, these incompetent idiots still stated that I never tried to contact them and that was why they charged my card. The reviews below are completely correct. Do not do business with these people. They will rip you off.

5 mins walk from the train station at Firenze SMN. ideal location only 5 mins from centre and Douma. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large rooms for an hostel. Only downside is you had to pay in cash, not accepting cards and if you booked under the name Leopoldine central there is no sign outside just a piece of paper where the doorbells are. 24 hour reception in excellent English speaking staff and a locker room so you dont have to carry bags about if your not moving on until evening
