Hotel Royal

2xfloor apartment we stayed in was large, airconditioned and in good clean condition. We really enjoyed our stay. Parking was easy and secure. Staff were helpful at all times. For the cost, we expected better coffee (not machine) and breakfast to be plentiful. It was not replenished enough for the amount of guests, plates often empty of food. The swimming pool is too small to be usable during our stay, no chairs available any time in our 3 days. The entrance of the property lets it down. I understand this is the public street, but other properties in Florence wash and bleach the urine and dog feces off their own entrance daily, however this hotel does not. Cockraoches crawling over dog turds is not a good experience as you walk into the hotel

I booked a single room in November 2025 for July 2026, paying €120,- per night including breakfast. Since Hotel Villa Royal presents itself as a 4-Star property, my expectations were understandably high. However, the room assigned to me left me speechless: it was basically the size of a glorified broom closet. The bed was squeezed between the wall and the window, and a narrow corner hallway was the only thing leading to the Hotel room door. Upon complaining, I was only offered an upgrade for an additional charge of around € 60 per night. As I reluctantly accepted my Situation and tried to hang my clothes in the tall, narrow corner wardrobe next to the room door-which only had room for about 6 hangers anyway- the door was hanging by just a single hinge when I opend it.Although this was repaired after a second complaint, it leaves a very poor impression for a 4-Star standard. Given how early I booked, I would have expected a proper adequate room. The Positives: The breakfast was plentiful and the service staff in the breakfast room was execeptionally attentive. The beautiful pool in the garden also went a long way in reconciling me with the shortcomings of the „broom closet“. While the bathroom was small as well,it met the standard of the hotel. Furthermore the central location and the exellent connection to public transport are highly commendable. Conclusion: While the beautiful outdoor facilities and the good breakfast somewhat save the stay, the value for money and the room comfort for solo travelers are deeply disappointing. Should I visit Florence again for a few days next year this hotel will definitely not be an opinion.

This was our second stay at the villa Royal and we marked it already again as an option for a future visit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Airconditioned rooms with high ceilings and a water boiler in the room. Pool is a real plus with the hot weather of summer. And very importantly location: walking distance to the Duomo and the rest of the city center. We parked our car at the hotel and did everything on foot. We were extremely glad we extended our stay to two nights, giving us one full day in Florence. Although the hotel and rooms are not modernized with electronic locks etc, this creates a very authentic atmosphere, which I appreciated a lot. Breakfast was very good, with freshly squeezed orange juice available as an extra. We will certainly come back in a future trip to Florence
