Hotel Serena

Horrible experience! We stayed there for 3 nights! Going there we had no expectations at all but even the non existent expectations were not met! We did not have our own bathroom we had to share it with other guests and it was at the end of a hallway. The shower in that bathroom does not even have a shower curtain it’s just a shower head in on the wall. There was a ceiling fan in our room but it didn’t work and instead they put a small fan in the room but this one barely even worked it was mainly just noisy. We had a balcony that was small and dirty but that wasn’t even the problem, the real issue was an AC compressor on our balcony that belongs to the AC of the room next to ours. So we had the compressor sounds all night but no AC hence the heat in the room. Other than that there was no wifi although it was promised and not the slightest option of breakfast in the so called “serena house”. Definitely not going back again and would not recommend.

Initial problem with the hotel unable to trace my online booking, but fortunately a room was available. One of several hotels in the same building. Clean, functional and (by Florentine standards) reasonably cheap, but very basic - a bit of a throwback to Interrailing in the 1980s! Very convenient location, close to the railway station and the sights. Proprietor was friendly enough, but did not speak English and seemed reluctant to speak Italian slowly enough for me to understand.

There were plenty of problems during our visit. Room was cold and heating was not working. When i try to explain this situation i get more blankets as a solution. Owners does not speak English at all. When you try to speak the answer is in italian following with lots of angry voices. Do not waste your money on this hotel.
