I had to give it a 1 because there are no negative numbers. A nightmare. The first room had no air conditioning, and they pretend not to know it. I complained and got a room change with 'apparent' air conditioning. I went out immediately to have dinner downtown, and upon returning, the room was warmer than before. The room was infested with mosquitoes since some genius thought it was a good idea to leave the bathroom windows open. Old and dirty room. Absolutely to be avoided. Needs immediate renovation. Not recommended.

Chose this hotel for a 2 night stay for the pool, proximity to centre and price, and it was perfect for all of those points. While parts might be a little "tired", this old villa hotel retains its grace and elegance, as well as some simplicity. It is peaceful and calm, with a lovely pool, providing a welcome break from the heat and hustle of the tourist centre of Florence, but is a walkable distance to the centre, or 4 minutes walk to a regular bus service into the historic city. Our room in the main hotel was large, clean, comfortable and simple with a good shower (over the bath) nice bed linens, comfy bed and nice plump, pillows. The staff were friendly and helpful, and while occasionally there was a wait for someone to come to serve at the bar, it was never too long, and in keeping with the relaxing feel of the hotel. The breakfast was probably the least praiseworthy aspect of the hotel, and I'd have certainly appreciated a few more options, but on a positive note it left more room for a fabulous Tuscan lunch in the city. One negative - someone REALLY needs to clean under the glass on the window sill at the far end of the dining room!

Five years ago, this hotel was really quite good, with a nice room and a clean pool. This year, disappointment! Over five days, the pool was not cleaned, with dark waste floating. Pool loungers left in all directions, never tidied up in the evening, dirty tabletops, not cleaned. The door to our room (budget option but still) did not close properly, with a broken latch, so on the ground floor we could hear everything happening at the reception until late at night. The ashtray in the parking lot on our terrace was full of cigarette butts and not cleaned. Although this house has charm and parking, the price is no longer in line with the service or the number of stars, there is a lot of neglect. We will not return there.
