Otedis Garibaldi Relais et Imm

One of the worst places I've ever stayed, even after many years of travelling. The guy charged me a 2.50 Euro "city tax" in spite of the fact that I'd booked on Hostelworld and been told that the price included all taxes. I was put in a room marked "private", which I shared with a woman whose makeup had a smell that filled the whole room. This woman returned to the room at about 6.30am, and at this time she turned on the bedroom light and started shuffling around so that I could no longer sleep, so I left. Its solitary advantage is that it is near the airport. The place may seem like a bargain but it is actually expensive for what it is - particularly if you get stung by the extra charges. One of the few hostels in the world that I would not visit again.

My sister and I turned up here and it didnt even look like a hotel, but we thought its pouring rain and we should give it a chance. We payed up front €11 each a night. Plus we had to pay €5 for wifi as its NOT free and then €2 a night city tax which its only meant to be € 1. The owners a woman who didnt speak a word of english and her son who spoke limited had terrible service and we had to ask several times if we wereat the right place. We got shown our room, which was not we had paid for. We paid for a bed in a 16 dorm and they gave us a room with one double bed and two single un made beds which seemed off and we asked where was everyone else and they said that this is the only room available for women. There was no lock on the door and no where to keep your stuff safe, also after 5 minutes of sitting on one of the beds i started to get really itchy and now 5 days later i have welts all over my body from the bugs. We didnt end upstaying herefound new safer accom elsewhere. As we were trying to leave for the taxi she was not letting us out the door then came and spoke to the taxi driver who spoke english quite well and told us that she told him to let us go and that we must stay. I had the gut feeling of being in a horror movie, as this hotel is in the outer parts of florence.

This place is as bad, if not worse, than the other reviews say. The cranky old woman that runs the place is CONSTANTLY yelling at the people who stay. They have a curfew that means they are either locking you out or locking you in. Yes, locking you in. The rooms are not clean and the nonstop smoking from the old lady makes every room and all your stuff smell like you just finished a bar tour. The bathroom door doesn't shut so be prepared for someone to walk in, which is fairly normal as the crazy bat that runs the place randomly walks into your room. Then, she'll try to kick you out earlier each day than is posted. This place was horrific. The day we left, the old lady and her son were yelling something at each other about calling the police. STAY AWAY.
