Relais & Maison Grand is a lovely old building with some great original features.Lovely courtyard just outside our room. Air conditioning in the room which was a god send. Very quiet and peaceful. 34 deg average outside. Great location, just minutes from all the main areas. 10 minute walk from Train station. The host Ulrike was wonderful and very helpful with local knowledge. Great restaurant choices and recommendation. Wonderful person. Would highly recommend. x

Our family of four stayed in one of the suites, and it was enormous. The building itself dates back 200 years and was once a theater, and they've done a wonderful job preserving its original character while adding the modern comforts like ice-cold air conditioning and updated bathrooms. The suite had four bathrooms and we never even used one of them. Two of the showers upstairs, however, were incredibly small. I gave one a try, and as an average-sized man with an athletic build, it was honestly difficult to use. Smaller adults, kids, or many women may have no issue, but our family ended up just taking turns using the spacious shower in the huge main-floor bathroom. My only real criticism may seem minor to some, but as a parent it's a big one. The suite's lock requires the key to lock and unlock the door from either side. Since my wife and I were sleeping upstairs while our sons were downstairs, we had to make sure they understood how the lock worked and knew which of the three keys on the key ring opened the suite in the event of an emergency. Unfortunately, we couldn't simply leave the key in the lock because it's on a glass door leading into the suite from another secured entrance, and the key ring also holds the other keys for the property. It wasn't a deal-breaker by any means, but it did add a little unnecessary anxiety. Lastly, the owner/host, Ulrike is wonderful, and the rest of her staff were equally warm and welcoming. Ulrike spent time walking us through the suite and gave us an excellent overview of Florence, including restaurant recommendations, where to catch a bus or taxi, and other helpful local tips. We would absolutely stay here again.

Lovely 4 night stay at Relais & Maison Grand Tour in Florence, Italy. The staff and owner could not have been more helpful. After we made reservations our flights changed, bringing us to Florence a day early. While our Diva Suite was not available that night, they offered up another room, the Cantate Suite. Both rooms were quiet, comfortable and clean. We did not opt for the breakfast vouchers, but there were plenty of options in the area. We enjoyed several meals at Mercato Centrale, breakfasts and a quick dinner our first night in town. Plenty of restaurant options in the area. Very close walks to Accademia, Duomo, close to transportation. A little bit of a hike to Pitti/Boboli and Santa Croce areas, but easy enough to take your time and enjoy the sights along the way. My husband was either pickpocketed or dropped his wallet on the way to Scoula del Cuoio, luckily nothing too valuable in it, but we did have to cancel a few credit cards. The staff was very helpful in directing us how to report it and all showed great concern. My husband learned his lesson - he used the neck wallet I'd bought for him the rest of the trip. Also, seemingly everyone accepts tap to pay, so you really don't need much more than your phone. Florence is a gem, and your stay at Relais & Maison will make you feel almost like a local - or wish you were.
