I booked at this hotel for just one night, as the price seemed reasonable and the location was really convenient. Alas, like the protagonist of a horror film, I still didn't know what dense plot I was getting into. Once outside, the hotel looks like a 5-star prison: decadent, eerie and with that dark Addams Family charm. Upon entering I immediately notice the vintage peculiarities and the atmosphere of years gone by: a hall with leather sofas, torn 70s paper and dated furniture, but so far so good. The kind but not too friendly staff gives us the keys, we go upstairs and we immediately notice a blood red carpet that reaches into the rooms, with every step clouds of mites and dust rose up. The room, god forbid the room, rotten and dated wooden furniture, non-functioning mini bar, only one socket available to which the TV is connected, dilapidated bathroom with shower with psycho film style curtain, hygiene not found, broken air conditioner with encrusted grates , no welcome kit, blocked French window and I don't continue because I want to leave a certain suspense to the readers, since you will have already understood that a prison cell is more welcoming. I am preparing with great difficulty to go to a wedding in the area, meanwhile I hear a blood-curdling female scream coming from the adjacent room, then a thud and nothing more. On the way back I lay down on the bed, but resting was impossible: the room overlooks the highway, so I counted the cars to fall asleep, so that my entire scalp doesn't start itching. The following morning my friends call me worried that someone might have killed me in my sleep, I reassure them and go down for breakfast: disappointing, savory toast to be heated on a sticky and greasy mini plate, melted yoghurts, empty croissants and some juice with red stains inside of. I take a coffee and sit down: I immediately notice some water leaking from the floor covered with emergency paper, and I also start to sneeze compulsively due to my allergy to dust mites. Never have I been able to pack my bags for my return so quickly. However, recommended if you love the kind of experience described above.

This hotel is the worst I had ever stayed in Europe. It is hot summer time and the “air-conditioning” is literally non-existent. A little cold air comes out for mere 1min and the rest is air probably hotter than the air outside. Drenched in perspiration after shower and middle of the night. Don’t even try to open the windows, the mosquitoes will feed on you. Plus, its hot air outside too. We went to the car to enjoy 10 minutes of aircon at 11pm else we can’t sleep at all! Room and bathroom looks straight out from 70’s movie set. Bathroom tiles are cracked and the shower door is ripped off. Water flow has intermittent strength. Carpet looks very old and dirty. Bed is extremely uncomfortable, springs are already popping up. Bed topper sheet looks unwashed for long time, extremely dusty. Poor lighting in room and bathroom. There is only 1 usable electric plug in room, not next to bed but near the floor outside the bathroom. Unless u can move the super heavy room table, there is electric plug there for the TV. Also in the toilet there is a plug but it gets super humid in there (no window no vent). Breakfast is bread, croissants and danishes etc. Do not expect hot food like eggs and sausages. Staff didn’t care about a fly buzzing around the food. Staff is ok. Housekeeping ladies are the best, I actually pity them having to work there. If you return after 8pm, no proper car park lots left. To the owner: Please put some money to upgrade and maintain this hotel. Once the hotel opposite is done with renovation that will be where the customers will go. You’ll need to pay me to stay in i-Ciliegi!
