B&B Antica Corte dei Principi

The most amazing little place situated in Lucca’s walled centre. Lovely rooms with fab quirky decor, just perfect to start off our first visit to Lucca. Complementary breakfast available each day was a lovely surprise.

PROS: 1) Location, very central, convenient to visit Lucca. 2) Very charming structure, cared for in maintaining a "historic" style, with stone walls and furnishings in line. 3) Comfortable and quiet room despite the extremely lively area. 4) Shower with exceptional water jet, detail to be never underestimated. 5) Owner physically absent, but very kind and helpful in meeting our requests. 6) Cost, proportionate to the offer. AGAINST: 1) Upon our arrival there were no towels, but it was a forgetfulness and the owner solved it instantly. 2) Partition walls practically non-existent: we could clearly hear the dialogues of our "neighbors", and any of their "sounds". 3) The shower is a transparent glass box... located in front of a window without shutters overlooking the courtyard of an apartment building... with a single white curtain (transparent) to (NOT) cover everything... Honestly I didn't understand this choice: that is, if you have a transparent shower enclosure, at least put a blackout curtain on the window... We made up for it by placing a carpet on the window, but I mean...

Lovely quirky B & B. Stayed for 2 nights - loved the decor and the building - exposed bricks and roof timbers, stone steps - clean, good location, and super comfy bed. Smooth self check in, no concerns. I probably wouldn’t want to stay there for longer than 2 nights purely because the bathroom was v v small (and door didn’t close), breakfast was ok (but not as varied as staying in a hotel), and the aircon was not really sufficient (but it was very hot the week I visited and it’s an old building). This isn’t a negative review - I loved staying there and would happily stay again, just not really suitable for a stay more than 1-2 nights I felt.
