Villa Acquaviva

We booked Villa Acquaviva in Manciano through Expedia as Platinum members. This property is advertised as an Expedia VIP Access property, which is supposed to provide eligible members with certain benefits, including complimentary room upgrades when available. Instead, the property attempted to charge us additional money for an upgrade that we understood should have been provided under the applicable Expedia Platinum/VIP benefits. The far more serious issue involved our two trained medical service dogs. Before our arrival, the manager offered us a full refund in writing if we canceled our reservation because of the service dogs. Based on that written assurance, we expected the matter to be handled professionally. Instead, after driving more than eight hours through torrential rain and flooding, we arrived at the resort only to be denied our room and denied the refund that management had already offered us in writing. The entire check-in encounter was documented on video. We were horrified by the way the situation was handled. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, the manager ultimately told us to leave the property. As travelers with disabilities who rely on medical service dogs, we found the experience deeply upsetting and, in our view, discriminatory. What made it even worse was that the resort retained our money after management had expressly offered us a full refund. Thankfully, we were able to find a significantly better resort nearby that treated us professionally and with respect. We are longtime Expedia customers and Platinum members, and this was completely inconsistent with what we expect from a property carrying Expedia’s VIP designation. I would strongly caution anyone traveling with a disability or a service dog before booking Villa Acquaviva. If you do book, I would recommend getting every communication from management in writing and retaining copies of everything. One star.

Beautiful, welcoming, kind, and pleasant place, very attentive staff, excellent breakfast.

We stayed in this oasis of peace for a week wanting to really unplug and we succeeded completely. The place is beautiful, immersed in about four hectares of greenery divided between olive trees and vineyards. Excellent four-star hotel with beautiful rooms and interiors that overlook nature. The infinity pool deserves a plus, it is enchanting. We were pampered by the host Fabrizio, who was always attentive and available for our needs. The entire staff was very kind: Cristina, Alexandra, Mariacristina, the breakfast girls, and the cleaning staff were always attentive and generous with pampering. Must return as soon as possible.
