This spot is absolutely breathtaking. I really enjoyed sitting on the terrace outside my room and looking at the vineyards and listening to the birds and frogs. It's such a special location where you really get the feel of Chianti wine country. Well worth driving up a steep hill. The restaurant is fine. Like most hotels, it's a little pricy and the food isn't extraordinary but it's good. You can go into another nearby town for dinner if you don't mind driving back in the dark (there are bright arrows on the winding roads which are really helpful). The breakfast spread has a little bit of something for everyone. We saw pancakes, cereals, yogurts, cheeses, meats, breads and tons of cakes. I was super happy that they had alternatives to milk because I'm lactose intolerant: they have almond, soy, and coconut milk. We never saw any scrambled eggs but maybe it was just the week we were there? Our room was very comfortable with an excellent shower. The wine was just okay. But maybe that's my palate. I tasted a lot of Chiantis on this trip and some were too acidic for me (including those at Borgo Casa), but I also found ones I preferred at other places. All wine tastings are 35 Euros per person in this region - just go for it to figure out what you like. I saw some people complaining about this hotel and I just want to say: this is NOT a luxury hotel. We saw plenty of vineyards online charging 5x the price as Borgo Casa al Vento. For the cost and location, it's an excellent bargain. And you can drive to the old city of Siena within a hour and make this a base for exploring other parts of Chianti, too, like the castles and other vineyards.

An oasis of tranquility in the heart of the Chianti region. The view of the almost untouched Tuscan landscape is simply fantastic, especially at sunset. The service is simply excellent thanks to the super friendly staff. You absolutely must try the house specialty, especially the Foho!
