We stayed for 5 nights, taking 3 rooms for the various members of our family.
The fattoria is located a few km outside of San Gimigniano, overlooking the beautiful countryside and vineyards.
The rooms are spacious and cool - all served with aircon and each with an en-suite shower.
The beds were firm and comfortable with extra pillows available.
The swimming pool was warm and a good size. There were plenty of loungers even when it was busy.
Breakfast was extra, but plentiful, and with some fabulous local produce and excellent coffee.
This is not a hotel in the typical sense: there are no lifts or waiters to serve your every need. Our towels and sheets were not changed. We were largely left to our own devices. In general I find this ideal.
Our only complaint was that the shower drain was blocked throughout our stay, and despite raising the concern, it was never fixed. It just meant we had to curtail our showering to 2 - 3 minutes each.
Apart from this it was a lovely stay.

Fattoria San Donato is one of the most magical places my husband and I have ever visited, and choosing it as our wedding venue was the best decision we made for our entire Italy trip. Nestled in the hills near San Gimignano, this place is a total dream come true from the moment you arrive.
We stayed 4 nights in the Torre Angelica room, and it was hands down the nicest hotel room either of us has ever stayed in — spacious, deluxe, and somehow had everything we needed to prep for a wedding on top of it. We'd visited a few months earlier while they were mid-renovation on some rooms, and they finished everything beautifully in time — it's clear this family is constantly working to make an already magical place even better.
The food, across every single meal, was incredible. We did a cooking class with Lavigna for our rehearsal dinner and she was wonderful — patient, fun, and somehow made the class genuinely accessible for our young nieces and nephew, who we weren't sure would make it through the whole thing, but they did! They even let us stay late afterward, which was so generous.
Then there was the wedding itself. Angelica and Ricardo were our main points of contact and an absolute dream team — Angelica organized so much for us and was visibly, genuinely excited about every detail. Their whole family opened their doors to ours, down to creating the most beautiful centerpieces and floral arrangements imaginable. We started with an aperitivo in the garden — wine, cheeses, crackers, quiches, olives — and dinner blew us away: saffron, ham, and zucchini pasta that was our favorite dish of our entire two-week trip (and we are serious foodies who ate our way across Italy), followed by a fantastic Florentine steak, and biscotti with Vin Santo to finish. The wine flowed all night and everything — the food, the people, the setting — was perfect.
On top of all that, the pool was fantastic and they went out of their way for our nieces and nephews the whole trip. This is a wonderful place for families, friends, and kids, not just couples — and an unbeatable choice. We cannot recommend Fattoria San Donato enough!

This place is a working farm/ winery/ eatery near San Guimignano in Tuscany. Went as part of a large group. First we had a short tour & talk in the small wine cellar. After that we had a superb meal, accompanied by their wines, oils and home-grown vegetables. All of it was delicious. We met the owners too. Lovely rustic buildings with fast-flying martins everywhere. There's a small shop too. Highly recommended.
