Palazzo Leopoldo

Stayed here for a few days. Old, well-maintained style building with period furniture. Perhaps the rooms, precisely because of the furniture, the high number of rugs, and upholstery, make the air a bit stale. You need to open the windows often. Good amenities with two clean hot tubs in the tidy courtyard. The extra services are definitely expensive. $13 per person for breakfast, $25 per person for an hour and a half of sauna. Good and kind staff.

Among the typical hills of Chianti, in Radda in Chianti, you will find this historic residence in the center of the village. Exceptional place, well-maintained and spread across three different adjacent buildings. The stay in these antique rooms was good, but a little extra cleaning wouldn't hurt. The partner restaurants, also adjacent, are excellent with typical and tasty dishes. Helpful staff.

This was our second visit to the Chianti region, and this time we decided to stay somewhere new. Palazzo Leopoldo is a historic property, full of character and charm. One thing future guests should be aware of is that, because of the age and layout of the building, there are a lot of stairs. Our room was at the very top of the hotel, which wasn't a problem for us, but it could be challenging for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. It's worth requesting a lower-floor room if accessibility is a concern. Unfortunately, our experience with the reception staff was disappointing. They were not welcoming, came across as curt and unfriendly, never smiled, and often seemed annoyed when we asked for information or recommendations. First impressions are important, and the reception team sets the tone for a guest's entire stay. Sadly, the welcome we received fell well below what we expected from a hotel of this standard. Thankfully, the breakfast team more than made up for it, especially Sylvia. She greeted us every morning with a warm smile, genuine friendliness, and exceptional hospitality. Her positive attitude made breakfast a highlight of each day and was such a lovely way to begin the morning. She is a real asset to the hotel. Overall, Palazzo Leopoldo is an average hotel, but the attitude of the reception staff unfortunately overshadowed our stay. As this was our second visit to the Chianti region, we had hoped to find a new favourite place to return to. Sadly, because of the poor welcome and lack of hospitality at reception, we would not choose to stay here again.
