We have booked a family room on a short notice and arrived quite late. The house was closed, but a receptionist came at once and showed us everything. The family room (2 adults and 2 teenagers) was about 30 - 32 sq.m.with 4m high ceiling!!!!! Located in the upper floor of the villa on top of a hill with a breathtaking view of the valley. I loved it!!! Parking space just next to the house in a small garden of olive trees. You feel just like home) Our room had a double bed and 2 single beds for the kids, a table with a chair, tv and a wardrobe with a mirror. Bathroom was tiny, but very original, beautifully decorated. Though you might have to get used to taking a shower with a sink right behind you)))) Unlike other B&B there were shampoos, soap and even hairdrier for the guests. And not just the cheap ones, but rather what I would buy for myself at home. Wifi was available in the room and really was functioning for all 4 of us at once. On arrival we have been asked for the prefered breakfast time, which we have set at 8 a.m. But the next day we overslept and went down at a quarter to 9 a.m. - not a word from the serviceman))) there was no one else at breakfast except us. And for italian breakfast it was really good, maybe not as good as you would have in a 4 star hotel, but we were at B&B: so coffee, water, juice, milk, corn flakes, yogurt, fresh white bread, butter, jam, nutella, some cakes and fresh fruit was more than enough to start the day well. The servicemen also explained to us the best way to get to Florence and recommended a restaurant in the town to have dinner. Both advices turned out to be very useful, as you should better leave your car outside of Florence and travel by tube or tram to the main station. Oneway ticket from Scandicci to main station in Florence costs 1,20 Euro (July 2017) and parking fees around Florence start from 2 Euro and up per hour. City center of Florence is pedestrial during the day and heavy fines are put to all cars entering the limited traffic zone without a special permission during restricted hours (7 a.m to 8 p.m). We have enjoyed our two day stay at Il Colombaino and would have booked it again shoild we travel to this region of Italy in the future.
