Villa Giotto Park

We arrived hot and footsore having walked all day through the mountains but were given an indifferent welcome. Our request for an early breakfast was met with negativity, though eventually it was agreed to provide us with a bottle of water and a tub of biscuits. The room was clean.

Starting with the Positive: Hotel is beautiful building, clean and in quiet location. The internet is very good. The bed was comfortable and bed linen very nice. Now for the Negatives: There is a major problem with the water. For the 4 days we were there, the water, at best, was a tepid dribble. On asking about it, the owner appeared surprised and made big show of coming up to investigate. Later she told us it was problem in the village and was being fixed. After 2 days we gave up asking - fortunately it was June and not winter. We were glad after 4 days there to get home to a nice shower. The breakfast was mediocre at best - there was no fruit ( in Italy!) and the fruit juice was that over sweetened vitamin type drink. Very disappointing. Felt the price was poor value for money, possibly exploited for Mugello Bike racing week?? It is actually rather sad, as the Hotel building and location have great potential to be really lovely. This is a charming old fashioned hotel . Seems as though it's heyday was some years ago and there is a lovely stillness about it. The staff make you feel welcome ,but the hotel cat, Julio Cesar, seems neither pleased or displeased by the arrival of new guests. Look out for the antique radio in the lounge.
