We recently spent a couple of nights at Casa Giulia. It truly is like staying in a historical home. We echo the comments of Noel, in that it would be better to check whether they are hosting any events prior to booking - we also experienced a wedding the first night of our stay and a baptism on the second night - fortunately it did not keep us from sleeping, although the pool was not available, due them setting up for these events. However, if you are Italian or can converse in Italian, then speaking with the owner is a true delight. A charming woman, with many interesting stories to share as well as being most kind and helpful.

We stayed here for two nights in September.
It is a fine period house with lovely gardens.I live in one so I do like them. The rooms are spacious if a bit gloomy. The stairs might prove a challenge to the less nimble but that cannot be helped. It has a swimming pool in the garden.
Breakfast and dinner are mostly served outside on a terrace with a canopy.Unfortunately the mosquitos also like to dine ! Both meals were adequate rather than being particularily memorable.
What I did not expect was that the place was used as a venue for a wedding party with 170 guests on the second night of our stay. This meant firstly that the restaurant/other facilities were closed. To be fair the owner arranged for us to go to a local restaurant which was particularly excellent. In fact it was far better than hers.
Secondly and most importantly a full disco/band started up at 8pm with the full paraphernalia of amplifiers etc. and continued without interruption until 2am.It proved absolutely impossible to catch any sleep and the noise level was dreadful.A most uncomfortable night was had.
This hotel might suit someone who wants to experience a period house with old world charm.Just check that there is no wedding booked if you want to get any sleep.Certainly my experience was not that of a quiet retreat. My enquiries indicate that they host them regularily.Realistically the hotel should not accept non-wedding guest during a wedding
Overall my impression was that it was a bit like staying at your Gran's and I would not hurry back

a friend set us up to stay at casa guilia with our family. it was the best place we have stayed in our 3 weeks in italy! we had 3 nights there and would have loved more. the owner was such a beautiful woman who is so welcoming and very helpful and kind. the other woman who worked there was just as wonderful, and made the best food! the grounds are absolutely beautiful, with the pool that overlooks the valley. it is very close to spoletto and trevi and about a 20 minute drive to assisi. we would have loved to stay longer. we will definitely be going back. the owner was kind enough to show us the other rooms upstairs that had paintings on the walls from the 1600's if i remember right. the beds are very comfortable, and very spacious rooms with wonderful bathrooms. the shutters on the windows also made the room very dark at night and easy to sleep. all rooms also have air conditioner in them with a remote to control it yourself.
