Hotel Domus Pacis

Pilgrimage to Assisi in a group of about 50 people. Very large hotel, in an excellent location, about 100 meters from the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Comfortable, spacious rooms, comfortable bed, bathroom ok, good cleanliness. Half board for 2 days. Breakfast more than sufficient. Dinner definitely needs to be reviewed, very modest in terms of variety and quality of food. Recommended for bed and breakfast only.

This Domus Pacis (House of Peace) is an excellent hotel that belongs to the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans). It is located immediately to the right (with a spacious garden and parking) of the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the Sanctuary of the Porziuncula, where Saint Francis founded the Franciscan order by repairing a small dilapidated chapel there that is now encompassed in a gigantic Baroque-era basilica built by order of Pope Saint Pius V. Just behind this chapel is the cell converted into a chapel where Saint Francis died on October 3, 1226, at only 44 years old (the VIII Centenary of which is being celebrated), lying naked on the very ground as a sign of poverty & canonized a saint by Pope Gregory IX in 1228. The hotel is equipped with all the necessary amenities: spacious rooms (\"4* room\" recommended) and other levels, and everything is impeccably clean, with air conditioning, bathroom with sink, shower, and toilet + separate bidet. Spacious closets, mini-fridge, writing desk, LED TV (Italian channels!). We had a large double bed and two single beds in the room (no. 405, very quiet). Breakfast is hearty and varied between 07:00 - 09:30. And the very kind staff goes out of their way to help and advise you. A bus connects to the center of Assisi in 13 minutes (stop - fermata - immediately to the left of the basilica entrance, piazza Garibaldi.

Stunning location, attached to the Basilica, surrounded by greenery with very convenient parking. The rooms are very beautiful, fragrant, and have comfortable beds. The only not-so-positive note is the very minimal breakfast, especially for savory options.
