Hotel Clodia

The Clodia Hotel is, first of all, a pleasant discovery, then a sort of dive into the past, and finally a surprise: I will start with the last point. It is a surprise because you wouldn't expect to find such a place in a historic and tourist center, namely a hotel that is certainly not luxurious, but equipped with everything necessary, well-managed, and in an excellent location at the price of a two-star. A dive into the past: for the atmospheres, for the warmth of the welcome, and for that retro air of the interiors that almost makes you think that here it would be possible to meet Corto Maltese passing by, going up the stairs after coming from Calle dei Marrani, up in Venice. A discovery because among the dozens of hotels, guesthouses, and accommodations in the historic center of Chioggia, it is not easy to find this one by chance, since from the reviews (some of which are not exactly encouraging) you cannot guess its real merits, namely first of all the authenticity and the feeling of truly being in a morning environment, without concessions to mass tourism. Having said all that, I want to mention three significant added values. First, the friendliness and availability of the manager, an excellent source of information on everything related to Chioggia. Second, the presence of reserved parking on the street right in front of the hotel, in the full ZTL, accessible thanks to the permit that is printed immediately upon arrival by the manager. Third: dogs are well received and treated like "gentlemen" even if they have four legs. If I had to make a note, I would say that the breakfast included in the price is already more than decent as it is, but could be improved; the croissants made every morning by the nearby bakery are good, but a small piece of real Venetian cheese instead of the annoying slices like Sottilette or maybe a bit of good soppressa would also make breakfast a special memory.

Overnight stay of one night. Great location, friendly and helpful owner, room overlooking the fish market, good cleaning, furnishings and bathroom working. Breakfast excellent and plentiful with availability of sweet and savory. Possibility to park the bikes in a closed garage. Value for money decidedly positive!
