A complete nightmare: Pharaoh ants, unsafe chemical spraying, and extreme hostility from staff Our stay at Park Hotel Peru was an absolute nightmare for our family. While the room was visually clean on arrival, the presence of dangerous pests and the staff's reaction were completely unacceptable. * Pharaoh ant health hazard: Around 10 PM, we found Pharaoh ants across the bedroom, living space, and bathroom, despite having no unpacked food. Pharaoh ants (Monomorium pharaonis) are an indoor-nesting pest that cannot be resolved with simple spray cans; they require professional extermination. More importantly, they are known vectors of pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Pseudomonas, posing genuine health risks through mechanical transmission on surfaces and beds. * Absurd staff reaction: When reported, an elderly staff member simply sprayed an unknown chemical insecticide across the entire floor, leaving it visibly wet right where our young children (ages 4 and 8) were standing barefoot. They flatly and rudely refused to provide an alternative room. * Forced midnight departure: We could not let our children stay on a chemically wet floor alongside these pests, forcing us to pack up and find emergency accommodation late at night. * Withholding money and insults: We paid €2,840 upfront. The staff later cynically claimed that if we had paid for only one night instead of the entire stay in advance, they would have refunded our money. The hotel avoided communication with Booking.com support, refunded only €1,290, and re-rented our room the very next day. In messages, management was extraordinarily hostile—calling us liars and crazy, demanding medical certificates, and mocking our concerns, despite later admitting in writing that their cleaner had indeed found the Pharaoh ants. I strongly warn families with children against staying at this hotel. Customer service and guest safety handling are abysmal.

The hotel has a good location close to the beach, but unfortunately the rest of the stay did not live up to expectations. The service was very poor. The staff stood several times and argued in front of the guests, and the boss seemed indifferent to the guests and controlled everything. Although the staff wanted to help, it did not seem like they were allowed. However, the night guard and the night guard's daughter were very sweet and helpful. The boss also refused to sell us drinks and alcohol without an explanation we could understand, even though he liked to sell beer. The air conditioning sounded loud, and even though we complained the first day, nothing was done about it. Breakfast was disappointing, and glass and cutlery were often dirty. The pool was filled with sand and algae, towels were not changed during our six nights, and the cleaning was generally unsatisfactory. The hotel does not live up to the pictures and is in our opinion not worth the money. The only reason why we give 2 stars is the location and the pool – although the pool unfortunately did not seem properly kept.
