Hotel Des Bains Terme

As per tradition, this year we did not miss our appointment with relaxation at Des Bains, in the wonderful Junior Suite! And once again this year, I pampered myself in the pool and in the beautiful spa, indulging in lymphatic drainage massages that allowed me to feel light legs despite the heat. Of course, the pleasure at the table was never lacking thanks to the new chef who prepared dishes focused on taste and lightness. I thank the ownership and all the staff for their warmth, kindness, and willingness to fulfill every wish. A nice novelty is also the cocktails at the bar!

We were there for the second time. Although the hotel is somewhat dated, we still felt comfortable. The relaxation factor is unique; the spacious facility and the pool are rarely overcrowded. The service at the bar was fantastic again. This does not belong to the hotel, yet we were able to "charge it to our room" as guests. The ladies at the reception were friendly and helpful. A note about dinner: It would be great if orders like "e.g., fish please medium rare and not well done" could be accommodated; that was not always the case. The price-performance ratio is right. Would gladly return.

I spent the weekend with my cousin, we use a Smartbox box received as a gift "At the spa with taste, 2 nights in a 4 * hotel in Montegrotto with Spa access and dinner". Upon arrival cold but polite welcome; we ask for confirmation for access to the Spa and... surprise! Access to the Spa is charged because the package has been updated... and that’s fine. The receptionist meanwhile shows us access to the pools, both outdoor and indoor with lift, so I deduce that access is included, as indeed indicated on their website under the menu item “Services and prices” which reads verbatim “The price of the stay includes access to the thermal pools and the Thermarium “. The overall stay is going well even if many things are to be improved since the hotel is a 4* with prices at 4*... (discreet cuisine but certainly not from 4*, decent breakfast buffet, but closer to the buffet of a B & B... in a 4* I find the use of automatic machines for the preparation of coffee and cappuccino out of place... ) But we get to the departure... the bill that is presented to us is € 138,00, of which € 120,00 for “Access pools and Spa” !!! Madness! As much as € 20.00 per person per day! I ask for explanations specifying that we have not used the Spa and I am told that access to the Spa (for a fee) also includes the pools. Really?? I feel fooled...I understand that the Smartbox circuit is not convenient for the merchant, but the customer treatment must be the same, whether you book on their website or use Smartbox... It would have been a nice gesture to also offer a small discount, given the inconvenience... Too bad, the location is very nice but I will definitely not go back and will not recommend it... for a 4* is a big fall in style...
