Residence Meridiana

We stayed in a two bedroom place which from the start looked pretty sparsely furnished. However, I was really unhappy when my brother in law and his family moved into a unit next door and we had a look at heir place. Same price but unlike our ‘coffee maker’ (see photo) they had a proper coffee machine, a microwave and a toaster (not to mention the much nicer decorations). I understand the places are individually owned and are therefore different but we had no toaster, no electric kettle, and certainly no microwave. That is pretty pathetic - if you let places for the same price, they should at least have the same amenities. Feel cheated.

We stayed here for our main summer holiday for 11 nights. Travelled with our own car from the UK. It was nice to have our own transport while we were there. On many days we didn't use our car and walked to the town (10 minutes) or the lake beach, same distance. The apartment was of a good size with excellent A/C, good size fridge, cooker, dishwasher and microwave. Washing machine in the bathroom. It would have been nice for the apartment to be provided with tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine. We were there for 11 nights and the bath towels wasn't changed in that time. It would have been nice to replenish our towels. The pool area was nice with sunbeds available, could have done with a few more parasols for some shade. we often had a night swim with a glass of wine to cool down before we went to bed. There was plenty of restaurants nearby so we never used the cooker or microwave. Excellent holiday and nice apartments. Would recommend and would stay here again.

We tend to rent apartments when we come on holiday. This one was okay, nothing more, nothing less. It looks huge in the marketing photos but they have been cleverly taken to make the apartment look bigger and more luxurious than it is. Having said that it is a good size. The apartment has the basics, one toilet roll, no tea towel, washing up liquid etc- none of the niceties some apartments have so you need to head straight to a supermarket to stock up when you finally get the keys and arrive. They did leave a complementary bottle of wine, olive oil and a pack of spaghetti. Good shower, comfortable beds. The apartment was spotless, really clean. Air con worked well, WiFi not so good (better round the pool- didn’t work in the bedrooms). It is possible to leave the apartment without the key and if the door shuts you cannot get back in!! Be aware of this!! The marketing photos also make it appear that the apartment looks out onto the pool, C5 (all the C’s) do not so bear that in mind. The pool is nice and clean. The sun beds are uncomfortable and quite a few of them were broken but we always managed to get one when needed. A most annoying part of renting this apartment is that it is managed by an agency who were unable to help when we requested assistance with late checkout (understandable) and key collection/ return (a right pain) We arrived in Pershiera and then my partner had to journey by bus to a different area (Sirmione) to collect the keys to the apartment. When he arrived at their office the queue for collecting keys was long (queuing out of the door). Bus’s/ queues etc meant this took them over two hours which is not really what you want when you arrive on holiday and you cannot check in until 15.30. Taxi would of been €35e each way so not a cheap alternative. Then, check out is 10am but you have to take the keys back to the same place. Add in two children and luggage and this is pretty inconvenient. No late check out available (that sometimes happens as another family was coming in). Myself and the children managed to sit in the apartment until the cleaner arrived and then sat outside the apartment whilst my partner took the bus to return the keys (easier than us all dragging our luggage on the bus and back again to Verona airport). We would not stay here again as we felt it was overpriced for what you got and the fact that you had to travel so far (would have been easier if we had hired a car) to collect and return the keys. We will be more careful next time in hiring an apartment with a more personal service rather than through a large agency. I would rate the apartment as a ***, the location was good ****, but because of the inconvenience the overall score is a **.
