Reserved almost 1 year in advance for a superior, upgrade room for 2. Venice had high temperatures, but they put us in Room 302, up 4 flights. As we climbed up to 4th floor the temperature increased at least 20 degrees F. The room had no air conditioning other than a very small unit that emitted lukewarm air. It was almost 100 degrees in the room. The staff was fully aware of the problem and gave us a fan, but that was of no use. They refused to move us to a different room. They also refused to discount the price of $330 per night. The front desk gentlemen were very nice and the breakfast was good, which earned the 2 stars. The room itself was mediocre and the cleaning staff was useless. We requested clean towels and never received them. We finally brought our dirty linens down to reception so we could get fresh ones. Nobody told us about any 10 Eu cleaning fee or any other fees on check-in. Just shown a paper and told to verify our name. There was a broken lamp, fan and bedframe just sitting out in a hallway. The hotel also advertises a welcome happy hour cocktail on arrival. There was none. We understand weather is not in the hotel’s control, but if you know the 2 rooms on the 4th floor are unbearable don’t rent them. And, if you do, give the unfortunate guest a discount. It’s much cheaper than getting 2 star reviews. We had high hopes and were quite disappointed.
