Alloggi alla Scala

I arrived at the property with a valid reservation made on Expedia, but the owner didn't want to let me into the property, saying that he didn't care and that it wasn't my problem, but that he wouldn't give me the room. He said there had been a booking error, but it certainly wasn't my fault. In this case, if he had at least been kind, I would certainly have understood, but instead he behaved in a very rude and extremely unprofessional way, to put it mildly. Furthermore, the structure from the outside is truly dilapidated. Look for another place and stay away.

Terrible, rude host. The description on booking stated city view, room 19 sqm, large bed. It was on the first floor with a view of the courtyard, with machinery running and garbage bins. On the first day, we turned off the air conditioning, and it took 2 hours to cool down upon our return... The room was not 19 sqm as indicated, and the bed was not large. Old and smelly furniture and upholstery. Dilapidated and unsanitary bathroom. Lastly, a polystyrene ceiling disregarding fire safety regulations (which the furniture and upholstery also do not comply with). Descriptions matter... We reported it, and they told us they would let us know the next day about changing... nothing... we wrote again, no response... When we left and complained, instead of apologizing, they insulted us, saying that fortunately, there are few customers like us... to those few, we advise avoiding this place!

Like other reviewers, I was booked at their other hotel, but upon arrival there was an "issue" with my credit card, though I received a confirmation e mail showing payment was received, so they had cancelled my room. They did offer me the last room in their other hotel, but I would have to switch room's part way through my stay and at a much higher price per night than the location I had booked. As I was unable to find anything else, I agreed, and regretted it almost immediately. Upon getting to Alloggi alla Scala, they took my credit card payment and the tax in cash. No receipt, no paperwork of any kind at all. Everything was very sketchy! The first room was pretty bad. There was many indications on the walls of where mosquitoes had been killed and never cleaned off. There was no air or fan at all, so to cool down the room you had to open the window, so you were inundated with mosquitoes and noise from the alley below. The second room was even worse. Ground floor next to where they store the dirty laundry. Extremely stuffy and musty. I was told there was air conditioning, there was not. There was a unit in the room but no remote. When I inquired, I was told it was too soon in the season to use the air. When I pushed, the manager told me the maintenance man would arrive the next morning to get the air working. What they did was put a dusty portable fan in my room. The only good thing about this place was leaving it.
