Almoro Bed & Breakfast

Firstly, getting a hotel in Venice is usually a compromise. To get a nice place costs LOADS! So finding a decent place on a budget was tricky to say the least. Most places are advertised as Venice but in fact are on the mainland and you then have to travel in & out. This would be a 3 out of 5 anywhere else, but i've given it a 5. So on the this place: It's clearly a converted 3 bed flat/apartment, and there is a caretaker lady who looks after it on behalf of someone who owns it. (A Hungarian lady who is most helpful and clearly works hard) It ain't the Hilton, and as with all b&b style hotels in Venice, it is dated and basic. So why 5 stars? Location: We arrived on the plane and were advised to take the boat (15 euro single) to the stop called FTE NOVE (short for Fondamente Nove) where the lady met us and took us the 5-10 mins walk to the B&B. Fte Nove is the perfect place cos loads of the boats go by that stop so you can get anywhere. We would even pop back to the hotel to get changed before going out in the evening. It's 20-25 mins walk so St Mark's square & the grand Canal. It's also opposite the hospital, if you are looking for the location. We got a 72 hour ticket for the bus boats, costing i think 30 euros. like i said, the B&B is basic, it's on the 3rd floor, the lady is only there in the morning and some of the day time, she sorts the breakfast which is a continental style, juice, yoghurt, all fine, fresh coffee :-) nothing flash but again, it does what it says! You look out onto the canal from the breakfast room :-) It's lovely. The best room is the triple at the front with the en-suite, as it also overlooks the canal. It's wonderful to open the shutters it the morning and look down as the boats pass by. Remember though, that the shower works some of the time, and the beds are very basic too, but perfectly clean and comfy. So in summary, location is A1, service, OK, cleanliness fine, for a short stay in Venice, i'd use it again no question. If it was in London though, it's be much more critical! We were able to leave our bags there at 10am and come back at check in time. We paid around £100 per night One more thing, we got a text from the owner who said call when we left the airport but thenumber he text didn't work from an english phone think the number you need is this one: 0039-041-5209740

This was such a gorgeous Bnb! The LOCATION was awesome, about 20-30 mins walk to San Marcs very well MAINTAINED, its quaint, with plants and books and games OWNER: i dont think the onwer stayed there, they had some one come in everyday for breakfast and cleaning, they were all such pleasant and helpful people! FOOD: only thing i wasnt too happy about, but not too bad ROOMS: huge and beautiful! good views too. (We were in the pink room opp dining room) Its on the 3rd floor, its sort of like a house with 3 huge bedrooms, dining and kitchen and a very clean and nice bath/toilet.

This is a good place the crash while you're seeing Venice, but not much more. The lady there is very nice but doesn't speak English. However I found we were able to understand each other with a little arm flailing, so it's not too much of a problem. The rooms are clean, the bed was incredibly creaky but still comfortable to sleep in. Overall, a perfectly average place to stay the night and not too expensive, which is probably the best kind of deal you will get in Venice. Oh and if you get an email saying that "we will pick you up from the station", don't listen. I don't know what they even meant by that, as there was only one person at the hotel and it was a lady who didn't speak English. It was a damn lie! We didn't get picked up and no one answered on either of the phone numbers we called. WTF?!
