Where to start… First of all, when we arrived in Venice, more precisely, at the location of our “hotel”, we realized that there wasn’t one! No posters on the facades of the houses, no indication stipulating the location, no information... NOTHING! We had to analyze doorbell by doorbell before discovering the name of the establishment in very small letters. It was evening so I won't tell you the difficulty of the task even if the city is relatively well lit.
Once the doorbell is discovered, we ring, we ring and we ring again... No answer! In fact, there is no reception during the day and even less during the night, which is relatively disabling when you arrive at night. On Booking and the site, it is however clearly stipulated that there is a 24/7 reception. So be careful about this if you choose this establishment. Once the doorbell is located, we realize that to enter the building, you need a code. However, we didn't have it. Fortunately, an email reached me, but it was placed in my spam folder (so remember to check it carefully). Once you have passed the front door, the time has come to look for the keys... For this, there is also no indication. We had to call the establishment number which answered us after multiple calls. We are informed that we must find a mailbox in which an envelope will be present with, inside, 3 keys for which we have no information on the uses.
On the second floor, and after trying the 3 keys, we finally arrive in the lobby of the “hotel”. We discover our room which is relatively “satisfactory” for the time being but with bedding and a rather dated bathroom. However, this detail does not need to be taken into consideration because it remains within the standard of Venice. We finally spend our first night. Otherwise, the room is clean. Nothing to say about that! Good point.
The next morning, first shower! After a few seconds, we realize that it is not working... Following several manipulations, the water returns as if by a miracle. Frozen water! You have to wait exactly 8 minutes before you get hot water (we timed the following days). However, be careful of thermal shock because the shower head finally gives hot water, but the shower jets spray frozen water! We try to cut them, but on one of the valves, it is clearly marked that we must not touch it (see photo). Let us point out that the jets are not at all powerful! For girls, if you have to wash your hair... Good luck! My partner abandoned the idea.
Let's move on to breakfast. The “strong” point: this is free and is included in the price of the reservation, but be careful! The breakfast is really not qualitative! The items offered are reused every day (example: on day no. 1, we are offered a cake, we take a piece and it is offered to us on the other days). In addition, the bread offered is completely frozen and/or burnt (we had both). The cheese made available to us gives the impression of having always lived in this place. The carafe in which there is water is completely choked with limescale. In short... Far from being appreciable. Moreover, during this lunch, we met the members of the establishment for the first time. Point to take into consideration: none of them speak French (check carefully when booking because this is clearly mentioned). Staff not very welcoming and chatty. Apart from asking us if we wanted coffee or tea, we didn't have a word! We talked more with a lady who had just arrived in the morning.
Fortunately, the rest of the stay went well, until the day we discovered perhaps the most disturbing point of our stay... In our room, to the right of the bed, there is a wooden door. After a few nights, our curiosity takes over and we try to open it. What amazement! We realize that it is open and that it leads straight to another room in which a person was sleeping! I can't tell you the anguish we felt. Realizing that a person is literally sleeping next to us and the door leading to that room wasn't even closed. It’s just scandalous and unconscious in our opinion. Every day, we left our room to discover Venice, leaving our valuables behind while it was entirely possible to return to our room and do some shopping (obviously, not all people are as paranoid as us but everyone likewise). This is how the last few nights, we slept with our ears attentive to the slightest noise.
Finally, all this to say that we did not have a pleasant stay at all! Zero welcome, zero information, zero security, zero lunch... Nothing was going well except the sublime view we have of the lagoons. Honestly, I do not recommend this establishment at all, which considers itself a hotel, but which is not. It’s more like a “guest house”. Furthermore, if you take the time to analyze the reviews, you can see that certain elements come up often, notably the problem of the shower which already dates from 2014 and no change has been made, which is a bit shameful. So, some will say that they had a great stay and we have no doubt about it... It just wasn't our case!
