Dear discerning traveler, let us begin with the positives: -Great location, not very far from all that you came here to see. -Conveniently located on Grand Canal. You want that for ease of transportation. -Incredibly kind and helpful staff. -Nice breakfast. -Good size room for European standards. Here are my additional considerations: -My personal preference is to stay in updated hotels. This one is a bit on a dated side, as child called it “ketchup mustard” room color. You know, that opulent red and gold silk lined walls with tassels and all. Just an older design of older room. Not my taste, but, judge for yourself. -Hard bed. Sorry, it may be ok for you. -Older air conditioning system having a hard time handling 100.5 degrees heat. Totally understandable, yet, uncomfortable. In the end, it was a good stay, as hotel personnel were nice and helpful, room size was good, it was very clean and hotel’s location was perfect! In the end, good stay in a beautiful city.

This boutique hotel has European charm, right on the grand canal in a great location for walking to St. Marks Square, Rialto Bridge, many restaurants, and shops. It is in a quiet area where the water taxi's are easily accessible right in front of the hotel. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The breakfast is delicious with an option to sit indoors or in the garden.

I don't understand the buzz from several american visitors. The hotel is officially rated as 4* Superior. And it's not more than this. Location is 5*, service varies between 3* and 5*. Rooms also vary regarding details (if you apply a european view) : rusty door hinges, mold within the windows etc. And the breakfast (again mostly praised by american visitors) is only european standard, certainly underwhelming compared to other other SLH locations. In the end it's a standard venetian hotel with a perfect location. Pricing follows the location, not the quality.
