Residenza Maria Ausiliatrice - Hostel

Stayed in this hostel in company of three friends while visiting Architecture Biennale in Venice. Not only that this hostel has a perfect location for Biennale visitors but also has a stunning view from a rooftop terrace. Rooms were average but clean and great for the price we paid. We were lucky to experience one of hostel’s rooftop terrace parties where staff generously brought Italian food, wine and music. Can’t express how surprised and grateful we were for this lovely and relaxing evening on the terrace with a great view and friendly company. Will be definitely back next year for Art Biennale. Thank you!

Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Basic accommodation that is safe and clean. Please note that this accommodation is a university halls of residence that only becomes a public Hostel for 6 weeks during the summer, consequently they don't answer any communications until they open. I hadn't known that they didn't communicate when they weren't open which worried me when they didn't answer my emails or respond to the communications from Booking.com. I ended up paying to stay in another hotel on my arrival night as a result because I was arriving late and didn't want to take any risks.

My friend and I stayed here, were first sent to a room with only one small bed, they apologized and fixed it. Throughout our stay here, we heard staff apologizing to 3 different groups of people which is quite often considering we were only here for 2 nights. The hostel itself it very boring looking, the bathrooms not so nice and the towels provided to us smelled bad. Location is nice but this isn't a very cozy hostel. The room keys have gross looking, old stuffed animals attached to them which I don't find hygienic and it was not nice to carry it around. I would advise young backpackers to stay elsewhere.
