We stayed for four nights and enjoyed it very much. I booked a “standard twin” and it had the bathroom in the middle, so we had some privacy and our own TV and desk. Only one side had a little refrigerator. Microwave is in the lobby. It very easy to walk to Hakata Station above ground or through the underground walkway. There are many convenience stores in the neighborhood. Breakfast was great! Many choices and it changed every day. Suggest lining up early (doors open at 6:30) to get a seat, or wait a little while until the morning rush is over. I’m docking one star because the view was of a concrete wall.

Hotel is typical of the Toyoko Inn quality, super convenient to subway station (immediately outside elevator exit (6) of Gion station, 1 station away from Fukuoka station. Not much around the hotel itself, but there’s an interesting temple nearby and walkable to Old district. Room itself is really small with no room to open luggage except on bed. Is fine for a one nite stay but prob a bit claustrophobic after awhile. Breakfast selection is good, as is typical of Toyoko, a great perk.

I made a reservation through an online travel agency. I never knew there was a promotion for cleaning once every four days. The room felt a bit small and cold, so I turned on the heater a lot to dry it out. The humidifier was set up in advance and the staff was friendly, but next time I decided that I would have to book a plan with daily cleaning downtown even if the price was different. The reservation on the Toyoko Inn website says cleaning is done every day, and the reservation I made is once every 4 days, so I want it to be clearly indicated in the plan that is displayed at the beginning. It was a new experience.
