Since there was no suitable hotel around Nakatsugawa Station, I stayed at this hotel, which is about 2.5 kilometers from the station. The journey was on foot. It's not a distance you can't walk, but there are hills and no sidewalks, so the distance felt long. On the way back I took a bus. About a two-minute walk from the hotel is the Tegano bus stop, from which it takes about eight minutes to get to Nakatsugawa Station. But the problem is that there are only a few buses. Now, the inside of the hotel was thoroughly cleaned and clean. The room size and facilities were particularly comfortable. It was nice to have paintings in my room.

Expect all the services of a chain hotel but the bed. In a twin room one bed was firm yet comfortable, what you would expect in Japan, the other was designed to torment. Harder than a futon and closer to a cement floor. After one night we asked for another mattress and they obliged so we both had a good sleep. There is a delightful restaurant next door - Dining Kitchen. Good food and a generous host.

We stayed here to do the Nakasendo trail and although it was a bit out of town, it was a nice hotel to stay at and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a local bus that stops across the road from the hotel that takes you to the train station and the staff will give you a detailed information sheet on where it is located. It's easy to catch the bus. When you enter through the rear door take a paper ticket from the machine that has a number on it and this will determine the fare you pay at the end on the screen at the front of the bus. We used the bus a couple of times but we also walked to and from the town which was a pleasant walk ( 30 minutes) along the small canal with a section of the old Nakasendo way running along it.
