Hotel Acty

Hotel Acty is a very short distance from Takayama Station. It is easy to see as it's name on a board above the hotel. The outside is tired looking, and the rooms could do with refurbishment, but it is clean and friendly. There are segregated onsens on the 6th floor (which both my husband and I used). They are old, and some of the tiles have stains around them, but I believe the baths are clean. A very relaxing start to the day. There are two breakfasts provided in the restaurant- Western and Japanese. I tried both, and they were good. One drawback was that I could hear the shower in the next room when I was in my bed. We also could not find a safe in our room, but did not ask reception. Not the Hilton, but comfortable. Note- presently on the train front Takayama to Nagoya and the scenery is stunning!

Good location, rooms are ok only. Us$ 100 is bit expensive for the kind of rooms. Friendly staff. Food was good and the breakfast was good. Walking to beach and family mart which helps a lot. Love my walk in the morning near the beach.

This hotel is in desperate need of a revamp. The fridge doesn't work was told it "takes time to get cold" but in 2 days it never got cold, the water system is temperamental jolting you aware from warm to hot and occasionally to cold, the rooms don't feel super clean despite having a very lovely housekeeper, and the bathroom was covered in mould. I was unable to stay in the traditional room due to the overbearing smell but was promptly moved, at no charge, to a western style room. I would look else where if within your budget, at least until this place gets renovated - if it ever does!
