It was a ryokan that I suddenly decided to go to, and at first I just wanted to take it slow, but it betrayed me brilliantly. From the time we arrived until we left, the inn was full of very gentle attention. The hot springs are also great, although they have an iron-red weight, and you can go to the large public bath in the main building. There are no open-air baths in the public baths of Kounkan, but there are also open-air baths in the main building. The food was also very good, very fine and delicate. If I had to order just one dish, it would have been better if the soup shabu-shabu was served with yuzu pepper or shichimi. In everything, I want to go back in a well-kept inn, changing the season

I stayed with my parents as a Mother's Day gift and they welcomed me into their lovely room. "It was very comfortable, and I was like, ""It's a waste to fall asleep at night."" lol, we had a good evening together." My mother is allergic, and I usually have to put up with meals, so I often can't fully enjoy my travels, but Kounkan-san was really grateful for the kind attention she gave me. I know it was quite a difficult offer, but I really appreciate it. It was a great memory for my family . The food, hot springs, rooms, everything was wonderful and above all the staff were lovely and warm It was an inn

The Kounkan is an small annex with around 10 rooms and attached to a large hotel. Koukan is the high end portion. You will feel the cozyness as the annex is inaccessible to guests staying in the main hotel. The main attraction of Kounjan is that the large common indoor bath water is a rich rust-colored mineral bath only available in a small part of Ikaho onsen. Soaking is most relaxing and the warmth stays with your body long afterwards. The location is a few minutes walk from the base of the famous outdoor stairs but well worth the stay if the special onsen water is your main interest. The dinner served at a separate private dining room was an artistic and delicious full course kaiseki and the breakfast equally satisfying. All in all it is a bit aged and over its prime but still amongst and would rank in the upper tier.
