Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Asahikawa-eki Higashi-guchi

Because the parking lot is along the one-way road opposite the main street (Ichijo Street) in front of the hotel At first sight, it is difficult to understand. Facilities are at stable Toyoko Inn level, which is as expected for both good and bad reasons. It is very conveniently located with Asahikawa Station within walking distance and downtown area. Accommodation costs are almost constant at the hour regardless of the season, so it is a Recommendation in that respect. After the coronavirus, restaurants nearby will have last orders at 8:30 p.m., and after that, you can either go downtown to an izakaya, a convenience store lunch box, or a ramen restaurant that isn't famous nationwide. Please be careful if you come to Asahikawa via Asahikawa Airport on an evening flight.

After staying at so many Toyoko-inn branches, this has to be one of the so so ones. Given language barriers, i can fully understand if leaving 1 baggage at front desk and bringing 1 up the room could be difficult to understand. But it really do irritates if adding sign languages and pointing to 1 and gets asked over 5 times when i am checking-out. I booked a night only. Laundry and Dryer not maintained, dryer could not spin clothes dry after 3 tries (1.5hrs) with only 4 teeshirts and 2 shorts. Staff insist the load is too heavy, well, unless my clothes are made any other materials, i doubt this exceeds a 4.5kg load as stated on the machines. It was definitely working when i was in the other branch few days back. The young staff said he will provide another 30mins spin but we requested for refund instead. Its already 2am and we aint going to wait another 30mins and what happens if it doesnt spin dry again? Finally after deciding to refund us, the young staff close the door with a loud bang and it left me speechless. A first from a Japanese hotel. Room’s sink is choked as water is running slow. Otherwise, everything else is good. But i will definitely not return to this branch again unless i have no other choices.

For budget reason, I have decided to use Asahikawa as a base and travel to Furano and Biei everyday. There are two Toyoko Inn both situated in the east side of the JR station. For this one, please cross the main road, walk straight for another block and look at your right. This is a in a quiet area as the AEON mall and outdoor shopping area are close to the west gate. Staffs are friendly but English is limited. Not a bad choice if you cannot afford to stay in Furano during busy season.
