Comfort Hotel Kushiro

The hotel was conveniently located near the railway station. The hotel was clean, and the rooms were warm and comfortable but tiny. The place was quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were particularly impressed by the member of staff who helped us put our rental car into the parking tower. The choices at breakfast were limited but the food was good. It was good value for money for a budget hotel.

Using the term "Comfort" for this group hotel might be stretching it a bit. Looking at the video playing in the lobby of other hotels in the chain, those looked really nice. The rooms in this hotel are very small. We stayed for three nights with a break after the first night. We struggled with our first room and my wife had to climb over me to get out bed. There was hardly any wardrobe space and the suitcases were always in the way. On our second stay, we got a slightly bigger room, but it was still cramped. Our friends had two single beds and that room was far bigger than either of ours. So the trick is, if you're traveling as a couple, ask for single beds, not a double. The breakfast was very good. They have free coffee and juice after 4pm through until midnight. Whilst the staff's English isn't great, they make a real effort to be helpful and are. They are always smiling. The hotel is a short walk from the station and you can see it as soon as you come out. There aren't too many restaurants in the immediate vicinity and as the hotel only offers breakfast, you'll need help from the hotel finding restaurants further away. This is fine for a single traveler for one night.

The facilities are a bit old, but it was nice to have a free breakfast included. The contents were many vegetables and beans, and it was a healthy dish such as millet rice. There are no public baths, but the proximity to Kushiro Station was good and I was glad that it was necessary and sufficient.
