Dormy Inn Premium Otaru Natural Hot Spring

I think Dormi Inn is a stable hotel with a large public bath and breakfast buffet with many local menus. Otaru's dormiines are no exception, and we are very satisfied with all you can eat salmon roe.

Booked this because of the high ratings on TripAdvisor. Paid more 200 usd for a one night stay (Saturday) in October. I chose a twin room because it’s bigger than the twin room. The place is so dated and dark. Hotel is right across JR station which is convenient for those taking the train. It’s around 15-20 mins walk to the canal, and about 30 mins walk to the main shopping area, sakaimachi street. We found ourselves going to those areas during our two days in otaru so I think we will stay near the canal next time. There are newer hotels for less than the price we paid. Granbell looked so nice and new that we went for a drink there. Can’t say anything about the public bath. After seeing how old the hotel is, we didn’t really want to try it out. I saw some reviews about the breakfast we well, which we also didn’t get to try because we had a 10am booking at a sea urchin restaurant. The staff are really nice. And go out of their way to help you. I just wish they would update the furniture in the lobby area. And use stronger bulbs in the room. Our room had a window and view facing the station so there’s some added brightness.

Excellent location near shopping, train station and tourist attractions. Such a beautiful onsen to relax in. Appreciated the free laundry machines (just have to pay 100 yen for 20 min dryer), free coffee and snacks. Twin room was on the smaller size but beds were very comfy. Would definitely stay here again.
