Ariston Hotel Kobe

I stayed here with my wife for the night before my son's wedding. It's about a 2-3 minute walk from Minatojima Station on the Port Liner. It's about the same distance from Shimin Koen Station. Half of the building is the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the entrance is separate, and the parking lot is shared, so it seems to be full most of the time. We stayed in a deluxe twin room on the 14th floor. We had booked a standard twin room, but for some reason we were upgraded. The area is surrounded by hotels and apartments, so the view is not so great. The reason we chose this hotel was not only the price, but also the large water area, which was attractive. The bath, toilet, and washbasin were separate, and the bathtub was quite large. What surprised us was that the lever on the washbasin faucet broke beautifully and separated every time we operated it. I hope they check it carefully when cleaning. The amenities in the room were rather poor, and there were only two paper cups per person. For me, who was looking forward to having a drink after dinner, this was an outrageous move. The hotel's restaurant only serves buffet breakfasts, and there is only a small teppanyaki restaurant in the hotel for dinner, so you have to look for restaurants around the hotel. However, the night we stayed there was a weekend, and both the Chinese restaurant and the izakaya were full, so we were refused entry. We were tired, so we asked for takeout from the hotel's teppanyaki restaurant and ate it in our room. There was a free local sake tasting set at the front desk, and it was quite a crowd. Breakfast was buffet style at the restaurant on the first floor. Although there were not many menu items, there were many delicious dishes, as the hotel is proud of. Since the wedding venue was scheduled to open at 7:00, we had to rush to eat at the buffet starting at 6:30, and we didn't even have time to drink coffee, which was a bit disappointing. I would like them to focus more on guest room management and customer convenience than on the service at the front desk and the delicious breakfast. Thank you for your help.

In 23 years in Japan, this is the worst hotel experience. The hotel looked ok on the website, but the room ( see pictures) was old, dirty, broken and hazardous. Perhaps Covid and a lack of customers means they are short of funds to renovate it, but the prices were not that cheap either. Reception staff were ok, but seemed to be uncomfortable dealing with non-Japanese.

Its a small but nice for low budget. staff are nice and near to the Kobe domestic airport. easy access to show around the city and shopping。port liner train station also very near. Muslim friendly hotel .
