I looked for a hotel near Sannomiya Station where I could stay for two consecutive nights, but there weren't many, so I chose this relatively inexpensive hotel.
It's a bit of a walk from the station, but it's on the main street so it's not that far. There is also a convenience store nearby.
The room key was not a card type, so I had to return the key to the front desk when I went out, which was especially inconvenient when staying for multiple nights (though it's not a big deal for one night).
There were no non-smoking rooms available, so I chose a smoking room, but it still smelled of cigarettes (which can't be helped since it was my choice).
Give me a bottle of water every day.

It is a small hotel, and a very convenient one, since I went to Kobe to work all day during my stay there. I stayed at the other Green Hill Hotel a few blocks from this, in 2015, and it was much better, in my opinion. But both are very good hotels for their level and the staff is wonderful.

We had a tiny room in Tokyo, but that seems spacious now compared to the extra tiny one we had here. The bathroom door opened in the wrong direction, making it feel even smaller.
Location: halfway between Shin Kobe and Sannomiya station, about 10 minute walk from either, so not super convenient. There were restaurants and convieni nearby, and coin laundry next door.
Room: tiny. No closet to put bags, thank God we used luggage delivery service so we didn't have them here.
Bathroom: no freebies (toothbrush, q-tips, etc), so hope you brought everything. Mirror was also lacking the anti steam feature, and they tell you to keep door closed when showering.
Noise: absurd. We could hear the next room talking at low volume through the wall. The door had a large gap at the bottom so we could hear the hallway even better, and see shadows of anyone passing by.
View: terrible. We were on the top floor, but still saw only the wall of the building next store.
Price: very high. Granted it was Saturday and during sakura season, but our Tokyo room was less than half daily.
Staff: friendly, spoke English, helped us use the laundry.
Overall, this was our worst stay so far. Wish we had more options, but at peak season this was the best we could do.
